Star Trek Legacy - why is Kirk on the NX-01?!

This may sound like a dumb question but here goes - I just finished the ENT era mission and move on to the first Kirk-era mission, and Kirk is still in the NX-01. What's more, the ship chooser screen won't let me sell or change the NX-01 for another, more fitting ship (like, oh, I dunno, a Constitution class?). It's kinda annoying me because a) it's now massively outarmed by all my opponents, b) very vulnerable and c) there's something wrong about hearing Kirk's voice come out of that ship.

Anyone know how I fix it?

This is the infamous, game-killing Hero Ship bug. I get it too. The Bethesda patch may fix it, it says it fixes it in the readme, but it didn't work for me, not even with a fresh install/patch and a replaying of all the ENT missions.

The only way I've been able to get around it was with Mods like the All Missions Mod, the Ultimate Universe Mod, and soforth.

    Yeah, it sucks.

I think it may be hit or miss... I personally have never ran into that one, though I've heard of it.

Ahh thanks fellas, glad it's not just me :D

Question on the mods - do they change the nature of the gameplay significantly? If say, the Ultimate Universe mod fixes this I'd gladly install it - but I'm just worried that I'll suddenly find the missions in the single player campaign have been replaced with fan-made missions, fan-made ships, fan-made voice packs etc. Can one install the mod and still play the single player campaign as normal?

I had the same issue come up when I played it. Although my computer isn't the greatest, so I figured it was just me... Guess I was wrong.

Got none of that in the XBox version.

^ Handy, if perhaps I had an Xbox ;)

Anyone know whether the aforementioned mod will change the structure of the game if I install it?

It will change the game menus for the better and add a lot more ship choices among other things but wont change the missions at all so you should be god to go. :)

The Xbox version seemed to be far far less buggy. Wonder why.

I can't confirm this, but I would imagine that it was designed for console and then forced onto PC.

Thats what I was getting at ;)

Saying that, I enjoy Legacy up until the last few missions which were bugged to hell on the console. I think I tractor beamed a Borg cube (that I think was the objective), and it bugged out and went into "warp" (bugged across the map, then off the map).
