Eurovision 2009

Eurovision is fun. I really can't understand why so many people get annoyed over [countries that aren't Britain] winning it.

I hope something funny does well tonight.

Ill be watching, its a bit of entertainment. As always i look forward to the comedy performances.

Hope the voting goes a lot better this year with the new system.

I will watch it too...with vodka and beer, it always help ! I can't resist something easy to make fun of.

Like I have done so in the last few years, I'll also watch with the Red Button, complete with liner notes, lyrics and translations. Because we care about these things. :bolian:

Graham Norton's doing OK so far. He needs to let himself go a bit more, though. (Yes, it is pre-watershed, but Norton in Full Bitch Mode™ never fails to delight. :bolian:)

Graham Norton sounds as if he's reading Tel's script, without much commitment. If he stays this disinterested, I shan't watch much. Mind, I plan to nip out for 'more news for you' at 9:20, anyway.

I agree with the suggestion they should have shipped Ken The Bruce from R2 - in fact, he could probably do both simultaneously with enough single malt in him.

As for the voting, I'm old enough to remember when all the voting was by jury. It was great fun. They used to lock about 20 people in a room at each Eurovision location and force them to sit through the show. Of course, that was back when Katie Boyle hosted...

 Graham and The Bruce together... one can only imagine...

I'll refrain from remarking on the irony of the Israeli entry being a plea for peace, and merely remark that the singers are ill-matched and out of tune. And what's with the frock emphasising the huge gap between her tits?

Very clever use of biscuit tins. :D

Just been asked if I fancy going to see Angels and Demons, I think that's the preferable choice, so I'm off to see that... maybe pop in to the pub for a couple first, since I'll be missing out on the booze I'd be having at home.

Imagine the biscuits though... ;)

Not much love from the French number though.... sounds typically moody and noirish...

The French are proving the value of recycling. That's the same song they entered in '66, '68, '72, '85, '87 and '92. It's quite fresh after a few years off.

We'll miss you Bob. Enjoy the film - but I can tell you now it won't be as good as the book: they never are. :(

Have fun storming the Vatican, Bob. :D

Ah, now this is more like it - some good old theatrical operatic soaring 2008-esque power pop from Sweden. :bolian: :scream:

Power-pop? Sounded like colatura opera to me! Dressed in a wedding cake.

The Croatian entry seems to be singing 'Tada' in a wind tunnel. Those girlies need some hair grips. He's rather pretty though. Could use a better fitting pair of trousers.
