I'm still in the 50 mil camp.

I'm in the. didn't have time to see it Mother's day weekend crowd. Taking my boys to see it on Saturday.

This movie should have passed 100 Million Domestic on Monday. I fear this coming weekend.

No offense, but you have no idea what you are talking about.

If the film drops around 50% (which is the norm) it will be around $140-$145 million by Sunday night.

The film looks to be on it's way to an over $200 million domestic take.

50% is only normal for films like Iron Man and Batman Begins. We do not know if we can count ST with them yet.

The film is on pace for 197 Million not way over 200.

Thus far the film is a runaway success now matter how you look at it. A $200 million dollar domestic take would be spectacular when you consider where the franchise was only a short time ago.

How do you come up with such an exact number like $197m? But lets say you are exactly right. $197 million dollars would still be considered a huge hit.

I think boxofficemojo is right and we see a 60% dip this weekend. I hope its not that big, but I fear it will be.

Well, predictions on the high end were never over 60-70 million at the most optimistic, so Star Trek has overperformed expectations.

I think A&D can coexist with ST, and both can get 50+ million.

If that happens, will you get off your negative horse?

As usual there is a lot of hand-wringing going on about the box office results. But have no fear (unless you hated the movie). This movie is a hit. It will end up with pretty good box office numbers. It will do gangbusters business in home video. The critical and audience response has been great. Official announcement of a sequel is just a matter of time.

I'm still waiting to see that they have indeed spent 150 mil on marketing.

I know a whole drove of people who are going this weekend, almost entirely on the recommendation of people who've already seen it (me). The figures after this weekend should be interesting. Never understimate the power of the Word, young paduan.

It's also brought in $42 million in the foreign markets so far. It's on its way to be the most successful Star Trek movie both foreign and domestic. Look at boxofficemojo.com and the daily comparison between Trek and Wolverine. Even though Wolverine opened bigger, its had a much steeper daily drop-off in comparison to Trek (compare Trek's first week to Wolverine's first week) and Trek is catching up to Wolverine. If Trek has a small drop-off this weekend and stays above $40 million, it'll probably overtake Wolverine by the middle of June!

They have $50 million to go. The budget was $150 million.

Which I believe they've already hit when you count worldwide. (but I think only domestic counts towards the "will there be a sequel?" number.)

Close but no cigar

Domestic: $99,002,539 69.8%
+ Foreign: $42,766,722 30.2%
= Worldwide: $141,769,261

Ah, but see, that is where you are wrong my green friend. There will be cigars, lots of cigars.l

Droves of people flocking to the theater--Trek's come home to roost!

I work at a distribution center and occasionally I will pass by people who are talking about the movie and are telling their friends to go see it. This weekend should be interesting indeed.

Word of mouth doesn't usually effect the opening weekend, most people who saw it were going to see it anyway. This weekend gets the word of mouth crowd, people who were on the fence to go see it, get told by their co-workers and peers at school that it was awesome and then decide to go.

Yes this is the weekend it needs to power up because next weekend T4 steals it's buzz. If it can average 15 million over 3 days that's another 45 Million.

It would be nice if by Monday it's done $150 million domestic and $50 million foreign for $200 million.
