So, the bomb dropped, BOOM

1.) Will it reset the timeline?

2.) Was it the cause of The Incident?

There is not nearly enough information at hand to form a good theory at this point.

However, if we assume that whatever happened, happened, then yes, all this was was a predestination paradox and Juliet had to blow up the bomb and cause the incident.

Does this also mean history was reset? Or did Jack, Sawyer, Kate, Hurley, Jin and Miles simply get taken back to 2007? Well, that I can't even begin to speculate on.

I think it caused the incident.

That being said, I'm not going to say that everything is normal because when is anything normal on this show ;)

It caused whatever incident happened and our gang will reappear in 2007.

...I think.

They might actually throw us a surprise of some sort.

It was the incident, and Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Miles and Hurley (maybe Rose and Bernard...still don't know what to think about them yet) will flash back to 2007 (still on the island though).

Juliet and Sayid will not. Dead is dead (as so proven tonight with Locke).

i think whatever is in that guitar case that Jacob gave to Hurley will be the key to prevent everything from not being completely reset.

Locke's katra is inside the guitar case.

How about... the timeline is reset but they somehow keep their memories?

Thats exactly what I was thinking last night. I figure the timeline will be reset but those closest to "The Incident" will not be reset. That makes to me since this show is called "Lost" and how could one be more lost than in a world that doesn't know what you know, did that make any sense?

I guess we're all birds of a feather. I was also hoping the timeline changes but they remember.

Love the idea of the guitar case.

This was always The Incident, and the timeline is always the same. Whatever happened, happened. I'm guessing our characters will all jump forward to 2007 and Juliet and Sayid will die of their injuries (unfortunately!).

"What's done is done." The bomb is merely the final step in the predestination paradox our heroes have been involved in since the beginning of Season 5. Whatever action they took, the Incident was always meant to happen.

"They're coming." Jacob's dying words, in reference to the impending return of our heroes to the present day. All shit's about to hit the fan.... in January 2010, that is. :(

Like I said in the other thread....the version of 2007 we see on the show already includes the actions of the 815ers back in 1977. We know that because we see a picture of them from the Dharma era, and we see Richard say "I remember meeting them, and I watched them die". That proves that their actions back in 1977 are already part of the timeline.

I agree with this. I don't think Sayid or Juliet are down and out yet, though. Neither of them actually died in the finale, and we've seen miraculous healings before. Not actual resurrection (yet), but until I see a dead body I'll think they're still alive. I'll concede that Juliet might not be...not because she fell down the pit, but because Jacob didn't appear to her in her flashback. So she may not have a role to play in his plans, and won't be brought forward to 2007.

I think season 6 will be the Losties finishing what Jacob started. He clearly has something larger going on, something that he's trying again and again until he gets it right. He brought the Black Rock to the island in the first scene and his "friend" mentioned that nothing will change, they'll just fight and kill and corrupt as they always do. Sounds like our plane crash. He keeps bringing people to the island in the hopes that they turn out good...who knows why?

But now, Jacob is dead. His "friend" is ready to sieze control of the island. The only thing standing in his way now are the Others loyal to Jacob, such as Richard and Ilana, and the Losties, brought to 2007 (Jacob: "They're coming"). They must now finish what Jacob--ultimately their Obi-Wan/Gandalf figure, the wise mentor who dies--started. The final season is going to be the Losties against Ben, "Locke," "Christian," the Monster, even Claire. This will also lead to a scene of Jack finally killing his father, or the apparition of his father, in the tradition of Ben and Locke killing theirs.

A few people are saying this and I have a question. In this scenario was the bomb's only effect to launch people to the future? Was there no radiation released? If there was they wouldn't be able to build the Swan and the timeline would be changed.

If I remember correctly Sayid told Jack, way back in Season Two when they were first exploring the Hatch, that tons of concrete had been dumped over the area (that we now call the anomaly) just like they did at Charnobyl to cover up the radiation accident there.

That of course wouldn't explain why there wasn't any other fallout from the blast unless the blast somehow interacted with the pocket of energy in an unusual way so they both negated each other somehow? Or the energy from the pocket semi-canceled the worst of the blast?

Maybe there was fall-out: women can't get pregnant anymore. But the healing properties of the island prevented any of the other usual effects of radiation.

Which would be rather ironic. Juliet is the direct cause of the infertility problem on the island.

So perhaps the magnetic effects could somehow trap the radioactive isotopes and not let them escape? Hmmm, interesting.

That sounds deliciously perfect and just like the writers. You could be on to something.
