Star Trek - Wednesday - $5.78 million

Re: Wednesday Box Office: 5.78 million

I have this feeling that the weekend begins tomorrow, frankly.

The faithful out in droves tomorrow (call in sick Friday), the general public F-Su.

Don't think 50 million total for the next 4 days is unrealistic.

so, wait, if I go see it tomorrow during lunch, that counts toward the weekend? or do only Friday evening shows count?

All day Friday goes towards weekends.

D'oh never mind. Today is Thursday.

What I meant was the weekend begins today, then. Meaning that the numbers will start on teh upward tick today and then through the weekend.

Brain and brain, what is brain?!?

Evidently, Star Trek is still accounting (as of yesterday) for 49 percent of online ticket sales while Angels And Demons is at 33 percent. Per Deadlinehollywooddaily.

Re: Star Trek - $5.78 million on Wednesday

Again, not impressed with this Weds number either. I have a sinking feeling the bottom is going to fall out this weekend with a 60% drop.

If you think that is bad for a Wednesday, you have no idea how box office receipt patterns work.

We need someone to predict doom & gloom in this threads. The bucket dude has disappeared. I am glad someone else has replaced him.

What do you mean, "by NOW", sheesh! Seriously it is at 99 million...

I'm hoping for an uptick to 7 million plus Th and on into the weekend we go.

By the way, saw Tom Hanks on The Daily Show. He actually mentioned Star Trek twice, pretty much more than pushed his own movie!

I am no Odo's Bucket btw. I LOVED the film and am fine with what they did. I want this film to suceed. I just expected much better results then what we have gotten so far.

Man, I thought I was a nervous Nelly and pessimistic until the very end.

What results did you expect?!?

This was a huge gamble that is in the process of paying off... Hope to see a more effusively bubbly side of you come Monday. Because 150 million isn't that unrealistic a result.

And Memorial Day weekend? Kids home from school? More bling.

Problem is, you just can't compare Trek to other franchises that have a blank slate.

Star Trek is a brand in need of repair, like Batman was before Begins.

And, for the record, Batman Begins didn't do crazy box office business either.

It was successful, but not what you'd think for a movie whose sequel busted almost all records.

The property was still recovering from the Batman and Robin debacle.
