more pilots news

Do you want a big neon sign?

There are commercials for it!!!!

There are several shows that are clearly canceled and have been for month, but there isn't anything official. :P

Yes, I want a big neon sign and a brass band too. :p

There's no law that says just cuz they do ads, they can't change their minds...

if it was up to me the head of the network would stand in front of the press and announce each axing the day they decide it.

Why announce something officially before you're sure? And they can't be absolutely sure until they figure out next season's lineup. So that explains why they actually have to wait and see the next season's pilots before they can officially cancel everything that they plan to - even the stuff where it's 99.999% obvious.

However...

Now it IS official.

Looks like next year I'll watch fewer new shows than have been cancelled this year ... not that that's a bad thing since I seem to watch too many shows as it is.

At this point, I'll check out Day One, Flash Forward and V.

Bringing back V, and calling it V, is probably the dumbest thing ABC can do since bringing back Cupid.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has picked up Human Target and Sons of Tucson.

Past Life is considered a strong contender to be picked up. Dollhouse isn't quite dead yet. TV by the Numbers reports that Whedon has pitched a second season outline for the show and Fox execs would like to fins a way to make it work financially. But the ratings are low enough that cancellation still looms.

No shit. Infomercials on a cable network get more viewers than Dollhouse.

I think Fox really REALLY wants to cancel Dollhouse, it deserves it, but they fear the crazy Josh fans.

Also, ABC has decided not to pick up superhero sitcom No Heroics.
they would have been crazy to show it, it is an ITV 2 sitcom after all, what would they have done next, made a US version of Celeb Air, or Paris Hiltons US Best Friend? Quickly followed by a Katie Stays Stateside?

I have no idea what those things are, but I wouldn't put it past the network idjits to try any stupid, quarter-assed idea. :rommie:

On a similar topic:

UPDATE: Happened this afternoon when FBC officially passed on the U.S. remake of the hit UK series. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS was hot, hot hot. But then Fox execs wondered if it was really for their audience
Hey! Are they finally realizing that it makes NO frakking sense to remake other people's ideas, which are for the most part easily available on DVD? Come up with your own quarter-assed TV premises!

And Fox doesn't want any gross girls watching their network. :p

Come up with new ideas... wahhh....?!?!

They should all just follow NBC's stellar lead. :rommie:

And speaking of not too original - but potentially fun - ideas, ABC's Happy Town and V are still in contention.

At ABC, in addition to the already picked-up drama "Flash Forward" and comedy "Modern Family," dramas "The Forgotten," "Happy Town" and "Eastwick" are going very strong, with "Empire State" and "Inside the Box" in contention. "V" remains a possibility for midseason.

quelle surprise

meanwhile this new Fox show Human Target, is it just me to sees a flaw in the plan, isnt the lead character kinda limited to what kind of people s/he can protect given that even if the lead is an average white male, average height, average build etc et, the show is going to seem silly if he starts blacking or dragging up every other episode.

If it has sci-fi level disguises like Mission: Impossible then it mostly solves that problem (at least as far as male clients), but if it doesn't have disguises like that then I'm not sure how it's going to play out. The series really needs a regular female cast member who works with him and takes the place of female clients.
