ST XI virgins?

I was just wanting to see if I was the only one who never set foot in this forum, never watched a trailer, never read one spoiler, never read any interviews until I watched the film on Friday.

I think the only thing I heard two or three years ago was that it would be based on TOS but not much else.

I thought it was an average movie. It was fun in some ways but as time has gone on the deficiencies only bother me more. It's not awful, it's not great. It falls somewhere in the middle of Trek films but that doesn't say much given how for the most part the Trek film franchise has more often than not left me unsatisfied. It has an assortment of strengths and weaknesses. It tries to do too much and too fast and in the process everything it tries to do is hurt.

I think it would have been better if it had focused on one or two of the ideas and actually developed the film solely around them. Now sometimes writers can pull off juggling a lot of different threads but Orci & Kurtzman failed in that regard.

I avoided all spoilers until the morning I was going to go see it - because I wasn't sure if I'd like it.

I'm impressed with anyone who avoided spoilers up until showtime. I'm pleased to say that despite my lack of spolier discipline I was still surprised multiple times during the movie.

I saw one trailer before watching this movie, but really tried to avoid spoilers. Thankfully, this website seems very well moderated as I have posted here regularly and never saw anything about the new movie that I didn't want to see. They did a great job at containing movie information within this forum. The only thing I really knew was that it was an alternate timeline prequel to TOS involving a Romulan enemy.

I didn't know what to expect when coming into this film, but I was very impressed. Star Trek movies have been so hit-and-miss, I didn't really have my hopes up. I'm glad I avoided spoilers, it would have ruined the fun.
