Sulu's Command Skills (spoilers for the 3 of you who haven't seen it)

Anybody notice how when Spock and Kirk leave the Enterprise that Kirk tells Sulu (who I guess he leaves in command, although I may have misinterpreted it) to attack the Narada if it appears they have the Tactical Advantage.

And then the Enterprise shows up at exactly the right time during the final battle. Nice timing Sulu!

So anyway, I had to wonder if this was sort of a nod how, canonically, Sulu was the only member of the bridge crew to get a permanent distinguished command (the Excelsior).

I think Spock received command of the Enterprise in Star Trek II, but yeah, it was cool seeing Sulu back in the captain's seat. I'm hoping they take more advantage of Sulu in the sequel

Spock did have command of the Enterprise at the beginning of TWoK, but it was a training ship with a crew of cadets, and as soon as the trouble started he surrendered control back to Kirk. From then on, while he did have the rank of captain, he continued to serve as the Enterprise's science and executive officer.

I thought that was so cool. I hope Sulu gets more time in the captains chair in the next movie.
