Absolutely. The favoritism line. And rewatching the film I saw how often they show Uhura's looking at Spock, her reaction to something happening to him. It did NOT start in the turbolift.

I'm delighted by it. I'm a hopeless romantic, and I think it's a sweet relationship. I'd like to see more.

God help me, I'm a Spock/Uhura shipper.

each and every one of them made their characters their own. In fact, I find myself this afternoon having a little trouble visualizing the original actors in those roles. The new crew did that good of a job.

Yes I know, sorry I should have been clearer.

Kirk's needs are inferior. I don't care about his need to conquest. He has the galaxy for that. And plenty of Orions that haven't blown up.

I can see Spock still being a cold fish though, especially as as defense mechanism and Kirk being all warm and empathic with Uhura, stepping into the breach as it were.. and then I will hate him.

IMHO the majority of het shippers are Spock/Uhura, with a very, small minority of Kirk/Uhura (almost non-existent). There will be some Sp/K/U, but not much as you have to be open to all three pairings within the triad.

The big ship wars will be Kirk/Spock vs Spock/Uhura, and the slashers always win due to their sheer numbers. Just the way fandom works.

IMHO the majority of het shippers are Spock/Uhura, with a very, small minority of Kirk/Uhura (almost non-existent). There will be some Sp/K/U, but not much as you have to be open to all three pairings within the triad.

oh, K/S slashfic is an ENTIRELY different kettle of fish, my dear

K/S -- like the heart of Rose Dawson -- will go on. and on. and on. Shatner and Nimoy ignited it but JJ has no idea just what he has wrought with Pine and Quinto. rest assured, K/S is here to stay

as for Sp/U (and K/U) -- all bets are off with the new movie and SP/U fanfic coming out of this movie will be something completely different from what's gone before. and I do believe that many fanfic writers will take their cue from the more or less overt triangle shown in the movie. fanfic always makes the subtle obvious, anyway. it's the very nature of the thing.
