If theres a sequel should Shatner return? And if he does do you think he should play an older version of Pines Kirk or play the original Kirk from the original universe? If its the latter we'd presumably have to involve the Nexus somehow?

I was thinking, since people who enter the Nexus can seemingly exit the Nexus at any point in time, if someone/something wanted to get in there and invade a point in the past it could do...i mean the Nexus could be transdimensional right?

I really hope not. I think the baton has been passed and this new cast should run with it now.

Yes, absolutely. The Nexus could shit him out before the Kelvin/Nero incident and he would be in the new timeline.

Aye you could well be right, i certainly hope they dont just do it for novelty factor, if they did it then it would need to be a damn good story.

I agree- definitely not. The bridge has been crossed and now we need to get on with the new cast.

Star Trek without time travel would be like Star Wars without the Force.

Naw, Kirk's story (in the old timeline) has been told; for good or bad...i see no reason to have Shat make any kind of cameo in the next film.

No way. Shatner is a caricature of himself these days. He's way too old (and bloated) to make such a "return" anything more than some fanboy's wet dream.

The torch has been passed to a new generation of Trek actors! Of course, I hope Prime Spock makes a reappearance in the next film - although I'd prefer it he didn't factor into the plot. Nimoy still pulls it off. Shatner doesn't.

I think that Shatner should have been cast as Kirk instead of Pike. With CGI he could have looked like he was young again.

They did it with Picard in one of the X-men movies.

Yes, but keep him as the original Kirk. Anything else would not be the Shatner or Kirk we all know who is the pinacle of Star Trek. Even if it means to bring him back for a death that really means something. The sequel could be of the old Spock finding a way to get back to his real time line and finding a way to bring Kirk back with him. I still say Shatner's Book, Star Trek The Return would make the perfect movie comeback.

I think that they should clone Kirk, like Picard was cloned in Nemesis.

    Damn I'm good.

Exactly. Shatner got to hand over the torch in GENERATIONS.

Time to let the new Kirk carry the ball.

Shatner no more belongs in the next Trek movie than Sean Connery belongs in the next Bond film . . . .

It's like Shatner and the old crew passing the baton in "Generations" followed by the next movie being completely about the new crew(First Contact).
