On a planetary scale, it should be more of a Nero/Darth Vader parallel. Hitler is something else entirely.

That's totally not true. Hitler's character and motives were completely different and poor Nero does not deserve this sort of comparison. Besides, it's stupid. There were tons of genocides in human history, and just because both of them commited one, it doesn't link them at all.

Assuming the OP means Nero of the film, and not the Roman Emperor (who sizzled a few Christians but never committed genocide) he didn't have any place at all in human history. This stuff is fiction, not documentary.

I think that this topic lacks definition and amounts to little more than introducing a well-known historical demon for the sake of controversy. Last I checked, there was already sufficient controversy available for discussion in this forum of the movie itself and its relation to the rest of the Star Trek universe, and that saying in effect "Hey, look - Hitler! What do you think?" is not likely to go anywhere we really need to go right now.
