Has anyone noticed that there seems to be a different type of promotional strategy for this Star Trek movie than previous ones?
Ever since The Undiscovered Country, it seems that the promotions were more "niche" oriented. Specials airing at the same time as television Trek episodes. Specials promoting the movies with older stars.
But the new movie seems to be using a more broadbased strategy.
The Super Bowl ad for example. Advertising during more mainstream, conventional one hour dramas for another.
Is this because it is a summer blockbuster or a conscious decision to widen the potential fan base?
