Question: First beauty shot of Enterprise... any good?

I was just curious, as I'm not seeing the film till tomorrow...

Ignoring under construction shots... what's the very first shot of the Enterprise in space like. Any good?

It's one of the things I'm really looking forward to seeing.

PS: no spoilers please. Just opinions

The Enterprise money shot was quite nice. Not quite TMP levels of goodness, but it was decent enough.

Sadly, due to the pretty awful editing, you don't get much of a chance to see the ship exterior on screen for more than one second at a time.

I don't agree about the rubbish editing of the first shot. I thought it was nice.

But it's true that there are much better shots of the E later on in the movie.

You get to see it at the end of the movie, during the standard end of episode fly away.

While that's true, the ADHD camera work from the rest of the film will probably have fried your eyes and brain to the point where you won't even notice the end of film beauty shot enough to take it in and form a constructive opinion.

God, I'm starting to be really negative about this film now. But it's just one or two things that spoilt an otherwise really quite enjoyable film.

The initial money shot was one of two lingering still shots of the ship in the film. The rest of the film, you get not much more than second long glimpses. Sorry, initial post should've been clearer.

Hang on... they create this beautiful ship, and only show it off with 1 second shots throughout???

No they dont, some people exagerate.

The ship looks great, you get some very cool shots of it, but they don't slow the film down with long lingering shots of the ship, they concentrate on the characters.

There is an excellent panning shot late in the film that starts on the bridge, then pulls out through the viewscreen, then over the saucer and the full ship.

Fair enough. Thanks for the info, that shot sounds great! :)

All things in perspective; the long loving shots of the E in TMP led to even longer, loving looks at V'ger, intersped with long, loving looks at the crew looking at V'ger, all of which led to the leaden pacing that made that film a tragedy.

You can listen to rock and roll, or a funeral dirge, but usually not both at once. Unless you're a proggy... but let's face it, films Especially like Star Trek aren't crafted by masters of subtlety.
