Ear CandyMan

I wonder if any of the old TOS sounds will make it into the movie. I swear, at the start of the KIRK/BEAR clip, the wind effect sounds JUST like the droaning wind effect from CITY ON EDGE OF FOREVER..

But what about the bridge sound? Door sound? Transporter sound? will any of those make it in...(and for those of you who have scene it and dont want to spoil for the others? Send me a PM..I can't wait for another week to find out)

Rob

I heard the weird TOS wind sound, too. I've also heard a variation of the door whoosh, and the bridge "energizer" trill. I'm wondering if we'll hear the moaning engines.

There was an article months ago which explained that, while none of the original sound effects were used, there are quite a few which were made nearly-identical to or very close to old, familiar sounds. The red-alert klaxon you hear in the trailers is awful damn close. Other sounds will be quite different.

Given that the article I mentioned was discussed here at the time and that the presence of both familiar and unfamiliar sound effects been confirmed in both the spoiler and non-spoiler discussion threads for advance screenings (as well as in many separate trailer discussions) I have a notion that Rob knew this quite well and that this thread is mainly an exercise to try out on us his latest Robert Scorpio Patented Clever Thread Title!™ (I think he also derives a certain enjoyment from seeing his name on the forum index. ;) )

Usually, I would agree (and I do like to see my name in lights) But I honestly did not know of the thread you have just mentioned.

In the spoilers preview thread several people indicated that the background sounds for the bridge were supposed to be very close to the originals, esp the button sounds.
