Upcoming Publications: April/May 2009

That would imply that more than three people read the mangas.

I got Boukenshin last week, but probably won't get to it for a month or so. In general, my favorite artist for these is E. J. Su, though.

Do we know what "boukenshin" means?

If anyone is interested, you can read the begginings of a bunch of their mangas, including all of the Star Trek one, and the BSG one, at the Tokyopop website. I read the first part of the TNG one, and TBH I wasn't that impressed with the story. I actually didn't mind the art though.

Is the May 12th date on Amazon for the Trek XI novelization a hard date, or will it start showing up shortly in stores? I'm very excited to read his take on the movie.

I read on the S&S site recently 'around May 15th' for the novelization. I thought that was a bit late, as usually the book seems to come out before the film, at least over here.

JJ didn't want the novelization blowing the last three years of secrecy.

I asked in my local Waterstones last week when it would be out and I was told Friday 8th which I thought was bloody good as I was personally expecting it to be out a little while later.

In addition, there have been plenty of advanced screenings at this point, so I don't think the cat's in the bag.

Open Secrets is a little scarce in my neighborhood. No matter what, though, I'll have it by Saturday.

For that matter, I don't understand why they felt such a need for tight security in the first place.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

What secrecy? The clips, commercials, and interviews over the past few weeks have given away the bulk of the plot by now, it seems.

The screenings, yes... but remember all that fuss a few months back when TPTB were trying to keep every drop a secret. Even the trailers seem to be trying to get people excited without "really" revealing anything they don't want revealed. But the last couple of years things were really tight.

In fact, there wasn't always a whole lot of interaction between some people in the movie, between major and minor cast members etc.

^Yeah, I know. I'm fully aware of Abrams' insistence on secrecy; I was merely commenting that, oddly, it seems to have evaporated in recent weeks.

Well, it has to once the screenings etc. start... The first was almost a month ago. No one really believes that no screener won't breathe a word of what they saw, so there's no point in having the same lock.

Up til the leak, they tried to do that with Wolverine IIRC.

I'm pretty sure the 8th was also when Trekmovie.com said it would be coming out.

Random comments by those lucky ones (* grin *) who've seen it are always second hand, though. The secrets are blown wide open by the text of an official novelization.
