TNG has aged very, very badly.
I'm always surprised when people say TNG has aged badly. If I had to name just one TV show that has stood the test of time, Star Trek: The Next Generation would be it. It doesn't have any of the pop culture stuff that generally ages a show, and episodes from the later seasons still look like they could have been shot recently.

It's far too sterile and sanitized. Everyone's so bloody perfect it's nauseating.
A lot of people say this too. The show may be stylized just like any other, but I don't see the characters as the perfect or grossly unrealistic people they're made out to be.

The first two seasons of TNG have aged really noticeably. The rest aren't too bad...

I'm sure the same will happen to BSG one day...

I would have voted for NU-BSG, IF! it didn't get so confusing in the end & go down hill during the middle of season 3!

Of the two I'd choose BSG. But DS9 wipes the floor with both of them.

I'll never understand this DS9 love people have.

Anyway, like others said, TNG and nuBSG are totally different animals.

TNG however is rewatchable to me. I can pop in "Where no one has gone before", or "Remember me", or "All Good Things" and enjoy it just as much as the first time I saw it.

Can't say the same for nuBSG, the whole thing was a trip into depressing ville that ended up even more depressing that it began. I liked it, even the WTF ending was ok for the minor shock value, but I wouldn't watch it again.

I haven't seen enough of the show to put it as one of my favorite shows ever, but I do think they did a pretty bang up job on it, and it's definately my favorite Trek show. It was just more interesting, and I think I enjoyed seeing a darker part of the Federation.

DS9 was just a welcomed slight change from the utopianism of TNG (not that I MINDED it, I like TNG more than DS9), though frankly compared to other "dark" shows it's not really much of a dark show. Heck even "Pale Moonlight" wasn't very dark...

Anywho, NuBSG kind of fell apart for me as it went on especially after I realized the characters really weren't changing and the red herrings like "The Plan". So I'll go for TNG which I still love as much as I always did. Which is a lot ;).

TNG: Stiff, preachy bore.

BSG: Incoherent, self-indulgent garbage.

For the tie-breaker it all comes down to Adama vs Picard. Frakheads win! :rommie:

Apples and oranges, indeed. The two shows have few points of comparison.

DS9 or nuBSG? nuBSG in a walk. Same with a "Voyager" comparison.

Meh, it's not like DS9 itself was some kind of Quantum Leap (no pun intended) in terms of sci-fi television. It could be as preachy, boring and stiff as people claim TNG was. I don't put it that much higher than NuBSG.

Actually, the first two seasons of TNG had their problems from day one. The show didn't really come into its own until the third season.
