Boycott Wolverine to help Trek?

I plan on seeing both in theatres- but only because I know people in both, otherwise, I'd rent both at best, or be lazy and wait for them to be on TV in what? 3 months? And I can sit on my couch with popcorn that didn't cost 10$?

Like many here, I am not seeing Wolverine in the cinema because it doesn't really interest me all that much. I might catch it on DVD one day, or failing that, on cable or free-to-air tv.

While I don't think any sort of wolverine boycott is necessary or effective, I WILL give you my opinions on the Wolverine movie.

I will admit that I've seen the leaked copy, and it sucked really bad.
New special effects will not fix it.

Fox said that they added new scenes and cut some things out to make the movie better before release, but recent reports from screenings say that the movie is in fact exactly the same as the leaked copy except that its effects are finished.

Gambit is in the movie for like a whole 10 minutes and his main point in the movie is to be an idiot and get in Wolverine's way. For whatever crazy reason he can climb up walls and do crazy super-jumps for no reason, and after the movie gets past his idiocy, he is simply used as a means to transport wolverine from point A to point B, because he has a plane. Thats his whole cameo in the movie.

Deadpool has gotten totally raped by the movie treatment and is almost nothing like Deadpool except for a brief 15 second scene earlier in the film where he makes a couple wisecracks. Thats it. Other than that you could rename him something completely different and no one would ever know the difference.

I may never watch the movie again. Definitely a DVD rental if you are interested.
Well thanks for the spoiler warning there newbie.:techman: And is it just me, or are there a helluva lot of newbies on this board that are promoting what a smash the movie will be and more than likely will never be seen again ?!?!?:shifty:

Sometimes I wonder if some of the newbies who repeat the same song and dance about canon violations, childhoods being raped and what "true" Trek means are actually older posters using new accounts.

If this were another forum that I refuse to post at, everyone here could bash and attack the newbies all we want and the mods won't lift a finger. But if you post something that one stick-in-his-ass mod personally doesn't appreciate -- no matter what it's about -- you're banned for life!

Paramount doesn't need you you to not see Wolverine, it just needs you to see Trek. Be a happy geek, see 'em both if you want to. I'll probably pass on Wolverine but only because it doesn't look all that great. Trek's got frak all to do with it.

Nope. I want to see both movies, and accordingly, my butt will be in a seat for both movies. Potentially multiple times.

uh what is your point.
a lot of us who have been around for awhile are starting to be optmistic about how star trek will do.

and i dont think the wolverine thing is that big of a spoiler.
from the trailer
that gambit was in it
.
but you could send a note to the mods if you do think the thread should be spoiler warned for wolverine.
as for the op ...

yeah i dont see the point of not seeing wolverine to help trek.
i will probably see wolverine once though but am planing to see trek twice.

You know, Star Trek doesn't have to dominate the box office. If positive word of mouth and repeat viewers keep the movie up there in the box office as other movies come and go, staying power would get it lots more money than a big quick hit and run, in one door and other the other blockbuster.

I watched an illegal copy of "Wolverine" a few weeks ago, and I am therefore going to hell. I will pay to see "Star Trek" in the theater. Therefore, I am going to hell to save Star Trek.

Which is kind of fucked up, because Star Trek went to hell a while back and didn't do shit for me when it did.

I have to get out of this co-dependent relationship...

Nope, already have a date and tickets for Wolverine.

Don't worry though, Trek will be available on DVD.

And just an informational side note, Wal Mart had the first three movies in a ten dollar "boxset" package today.

If you have any specific suspicions along those lines, then you know where the button is. Making instead vague in-thread insinuations like the above suggests you're more interested in taking a poke at the OP than in any supposed crowd of promo-newbies. Please don't do that.

And if you're sincerely concerned about spoilers (where Wolverine is concerned, I don't have much idea what's a spoiler and what isn't, unless someone tells me) again, use the button, rather than quoting the damn spoiler passage you profess to be complaining about. :vulcan:

Sometimes I wonder if some of the newbies who repeat the same song and dance about canon violations, childhoods being raped and what "true" Trek means are actually older posters using new accounts.
If you have any specific suspicions, same message as above. If not, please keep stuff like this out of the threads; it doesn't belong here.

I'm boycotting Wolverine because it looks like three or four kinds of crap. Plus Gambit's in the movie, therefore it must suck because all things involving Gambit suck.

Star Trek, on the other hand, I'm planning on seeing at least twice on opening day.

But the performance of neither film really affects the other. Iron Man and Indiana Jones were released what? Two weeks apart? And both capped $400 million domestically. All that matters to Paramount is that you go to see Trek.

I'm going to see Wolverine just because of all the hype...

But only once...

Trek on the other hand...

I've already pre-purchased both an IMAX and Regular ticket.

And I will probably see it at least two more times before it's all said and done.

I think that'll balance things a tiny bit in Treks favor... :techman:

stupid Walmart marketing. that box should contain the first four.
