I'm not braving huge crowds on opening night, but aside from that I'm as jazzed about the new movie as I've been about ANY film in many, many years!

Very much looking forward to it. I wish the people who said they're hating this would fess up.

I voted 'optimistic'. I am looking forward to seeing it, although I kind of wish it was another 'Next Generation' movie, even though I did not particularly like 'Nemesis', I'm not sure why and they bloody well went and killed Data off :(

Because B&B are idiots?

Wrong, but please, do keep going on about the scapegoats that are Brannon and Braga.

Brent Spiner no longer wanted to play the role and he pushed to have Data die. He worked on the story, by the way.

I won't get to see it opening weekend due to the fact that I have to work all weekend. But Mon or Tues I'll be there. :techman:

Technically, I won't be able to make it at the first May 7th showing in our theater since the person I was going to see it with had something come up that he couldn't change. However, I took May 8th off at work, so we'll be seeing it then. I figure that's close enough. ;)

I'm going on opening night (morning, actually), but I'm really not excited. I was nervous for days leading up to the last few Trek films, but for this one it's almost an inconvenience.

The one aspect about this new film that has stunned me has been the relatively large amount of attention given to it by the mainstream press. Almost all the reviews have been lukewarm to positive, which gives me hope this will be a special film experience.

At the moment, I'm deciding whether I should turn up on opening night or wait until the weekend. Especially as my mates have made it very clear they have no interest in showing up on opening night. Regardless of it's quality, this film will be an event and I really want to share the experience with my fellow Star Trek fans (if any) in my area.

I'm pretty optimistic--here's to '09!
Star Trek is the Most Anticipated Movies of 2009

The film industry had a record year in 2008, bringing in an estimated $9.8 billion at the North American box office. It will be a tough act to follow, but 2009 promises to deliver as many -- if not more -- big movies. There are two big movies that were supposed to come out this past holiday season: the latest "Harry Potter" and the new take on "Star Trek."

I am headed straight to the IMAX cinema after work on opening night. I'll probably see it again at least once on the weekend after too. Cannot wait..

Have I posted in this one? Nevermind, I don't care.

YES! I am absolutely ecstatic about seeing this movie. I will be there May 8th to see this movie happen.

J.

I voted "okay", although I'm probably somewhere between "okay" and "meh".

What I've seen so far in the trailers and the screenshots hasn't left much of an impression. It's fine, but if this wasn't Star Trek, I'm not sure I'd be paying much attention.
I'm also not too impressed by Abrams's work in general, so there's no reason for me to anticipate this film based on his involvement.

At the same time, I'm open to seeing what's actually on screen. I just don't know if I'll actually go to the theater to see it or rather just catch up on DVD later on. We'll see.

I've been following this from day one. So yes, I am looking forward to this immensely.

I just can't believe it's so close.
