3 New Clips on iesb [SPOILERS]

The music when the shuttle leaves the bay (and the CGI/camera angle itself) is fantastic.

I thought everything about the shuttle launch simply seemed persuasive and real - the environment has a lot of texture to it, both visually and in terms of the sound. A good thing, all around, for Star Trek.

I also thought the music in this sequence was surprisingly reminiscent of Star Wars more than any previous Trek movie.

The shuttle sequence felt REAL.

I loved the radio chatter, and the editing. Music, visuals were top notch, and Sulu's 'fencing' was nicely delivered, and the reference to the Enterprise and beaming felt like 'Star Trek' as has been mentioned.

I don't think I could be more excited about this film.

I wasn't thinking "Star Wars" listening to music, I was thinking "1980s instrumental scores". Just a "Feeling" I got from the clip.

There's something about the music just over the exterior shot of the shuttle exiting the hangar deck that reminds me of the early "Tatooine" scenes in Star Wars. I'm not musically sophisticated enough to identify it any better than that.

So, if the Kelvin is destroyed in 2230 and Kirk is 28 during the later part of this movie - and I haven't seen it, so that's an assumption - this puts his first service aboard the Enterprise in 2258, about six years before TOS supposedly begins.

"What kind of combat training do you have?"
"Fencing."
*stare*

Honestly my favorite clip was probably between Kirk and Pike. I'm actually finding that I'm anticipating seeing Greenwood as Pike more than I am some of the other characters.

Well, he gives the stardate as "223304", so possibly April of 2233?

Instantly, the shuttle launching sequence becomes one of my favorite ever....

RAMA

I loved all of these clips and if I had any residual doubts, and I did have acouple of small ones, these clips have made them dissolve right away.

I think it's the flute portion of clip as they exit the hanger

Well, remember Pike's line to Kirk in the bar: "You could be an officer in 4 years, get your own ship in 8"...

Indeed. But the harp/electronic accompaniment screamed classic trek to me.

That may be it.

That clip is my favorite of the new ones - there's just so many little things in it.

Kirk's attitude, for one. He's sizing up the two guys he's on this mission with, and whether he's in charge or not (I've no idea) he's the one who's clearly concerned. He's nervous, but there's more there - it looks to me like he's disturbed to realize that the engineer is all bravado and doesn't have a realistic sense of what they're in for. And he wants to know what Sulu's specific training is. In his mind, he's taking responsibility for getting this done.

Okay, maybe that's a bit much to get out of the clip. :guffaw: But I do like Pine's performance there.

I love his, "Ya right" expression at the engineer and his "Fuck, are you kidding me..." expression at Sulu.

Yeah I thought the same thing about the music.

My favorite one was the bar scene with Uhura.

"Study of alien languages, morphology, phenology, syntax.... Means you got a talented tongue."
I loved the look on uhura's face when he said that.

Granted the innuendo was more then you would usually see in trek, but it was funny.

I think the ship looks too small in the jump scene. I mean the shuttle bay looks as big as the entire lower hull, and you can walk across it in a few seconds. Where is the engine room?
