Wow, some pretty awesome stuff! I think I've reached a point where I can't be any more enthusiastic for this movie. These scenes look very promising. I love the music in these clips. The one with Kirk and Pike in the bar is my favorite, I guess. Greenwood doesn't disappoint as Pike, that's for sure. But Pine's also very good in this scene. The one with Nero and Robau is pretty interesting, too. I can't believe they're actually showing us Robau's death, though.

That surprised me a bit though I think its one of those forgone conclusions.

Holy fuck.

LOVE the shuttle launch.

Robau lives up to advance billing, even if he doesn't live long.

Now we see how they've adjusted the stardates - they actually represent the year now. This makes a lot of sense, since the original more-or-less nonsense system was intended to obscure the then-undefined time period when TOS took place. The "stardates are dependent on position and acceleration" pooh-bah was invented after the fact to explain inconsistencies. Now that the era of Kirk and Spock's adventures has been nailed down, there's no longer any reason for that.

It could still be used for near-C normal space craft to compensate for ships time versus "outside time", provided the federation has any such craft.

I like that they kept the term. :)

...and you're right. Robau proves that not all Federation captains that aren't in charge of an Enterprise are namby pamby!

Did anyone else notice the score during "Space Jump"? I swear I am hearing music from TVH there! I like that.

I was also reminded of Morn in the bar scene. Pike telling Kirk to join StarFleet is still my favorite clip to date. Greenwood makes the ultimate father figure.

As McCoy was sputtering about sitting or not, it was like hearing Kelly's McCoy speakng the lines. Funny. He nailed the character.

Also, when the "skydive" was about to happen, and they were warned "The Enterprise won't be able to beam you back..." it plainly hit me: This IS going to be Star Trek. No question about it. The timeline's been changed, but it's still Star Trek.

I thought the Budweiser reference in the Uhura clip was funny. Gives me hope for Pepsi surviving into the 23rd Century.

Robau's death is very very early into the film. I consider anything that happens in the first 10 minutes of a movie to be fair game for "spoilers".

The music in that clip stuck out to me too. Felt "old school"-- mean that in a good way. The shuttle launch "interiors" felt a little BSGish though

Funny, I felt the same thing. Its just another moment when reality hits home, and i am so excited, I think I may explode before May 7th. When the the Controller calls Pike and says "Shuttle Commander, you are clear from U.S.S. Enterprise airspace," I couldn't help but smile. Great nod to real flight ops jargon, and it's awesome to hear the name Enterprise loud and clear once again.

EDIT: Anyone else notice the four note intro to the TOS fanfare that plays when the shuttle leaves the bay? Sweeeeet.

Well, I don't. I mean, I knew Robau was going to die in this movie. And of course I figured it would happen rather early in the movie. But I did not expect them to show his death in a frakkin' preview clip. :wtf:

You say that as if it was a bad thing. :p
