Jones' website, RonJonesProductions.com, re-launched a week or so ago and it contains a TON of sound clips, from unreleased ST: TNG, Ducktales, and Family Guy cues, to more.

Wow. Very nice rework and lots of great stuff to hear. Wow was Trek so much better sounding back before they decided the soundtrack should be repetitive dull droning.

I'm particularly happy that he put Double Star up to listen to. Opener of the best season of TNG and one of my fav episodes.

Tea Ceremony really reminds me of John Barry's "Wine with Stacey" from the Bond film A View to a Kill.

A particular favorite of mine is Double Star, from TNG's Evolution. Absolutely beautiful.

Wow, much thanks for the heads-up, Tharp! Some very good music on that site. Especially Tasha's Goodbye and Tea Ceremony are beautiful. Ron Jones really was the best composer of modern Trek. Too bad they let him go so early. The score for The Best of Both Worlds has the best music written for any of the modern series. Borg Engaged is a wonderful testimony to that. Heck, I get goosebumps listening to it! The music for the Trek games also highlight what a wonderful composer for a Trek movie Ron Jones would be. For games, they really sound grand.

I'm especially fond of the bits from Up The Long Ladder. Forgettable episode, but the score was nice. (By the way, does anyone know why the titles on Ron Jones' site refer to Brena, when it was Brenna in the TNG episode?) What about some of the other pieces, does anyone know for which episode they were written?

I agree with 1701, he was let go way too early. The first real big mistake by Berman.

After listening, I was able to immediately recognize 99% of these cues (because I'm a huge Ron Jones/TNG dork), but the very end of the TNG Suite had me stuck... most of it is just a back and forth of "Q Who?" and "11001001". But what was the last 30 seconds? Was it the end of "Final Mission"?... or "A Matter of Perspective"?... or "Data's Day"?... no they're too distinctive... but then it occurred to me and sure enough when I popped in the DVD I confirmed it.

Ron Jones definitely composed the most rousing and bombastic TNG music. I had downloaded the TNG suite a few years ago from Ron Jones' site. I was not aware that more had been added. One day I would love to hear some tracks from "Naked Now" from the repulser beam sequence and "Where No One Has Gone Before" during the warp jumps and scenes with the Traveler. Thank you for sharing!

I think Michael Giacchino is just as good. But I wouldn't have been opposed in the slightest had it been Ron Jones instead either.

Agreed. I'm constantly amazed at Giacchino's work on Lost. Some wonderfully grand themes! I'm happy he did the score for the new Star Trek. And just like you I already get goosebumps just from listening to the little snippets we got so far. This will be great.

They do, but he is entitled to use indiviudal cuts (NOT entire scores) as samples under Fair Use, if I understand correctly.

It's similar but not the same...

The opening notes of Cemetery of Dead Ships are essentialy Ron Jones' Picard Theme if my memory does not fail me, while in the tribute it was the Star Trek Fanfare, probably done by McCarthy. I guess both used the same instrument (some kind of horn? and solo it seems) and both were somewhat solemn..

I'm hoping that Jones will continue to get more of the credit that he deserves. He made some pretty bad episodes watchable (WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE PARIS comes to mind), but also wrote the finest music of any ST T.V. episodes (BEST OF BOTH WORLDS certainly comes to mind).
