Trying to find more examples of Roddenberry's thinking

riker.jpg

Shame on Tasha and Troi, he clearly had made the good of the mission his priority.

And this charming image illustrates exactly what about Roddenberry's thinking? (My, what a storm of responses I may get now!)

Is skants short for scanty?

I believe this term refers to the male uniforms that were mini-skirt like .... they were simply awful. I think they ran out of uniforms for the male extras and made them wear the female uniforms lol

Right - skant for 'man' like skirt is for 'girl.' I think we can thank the late Bill Theiss for that name.

This concept was actually of course done to promote another of Roddenberry's ideas - equality between the sexes. If a girl wears a skirt, why not a man? Scottish men wear kilts. Roddenberry himself wore a kimono at his wedding, IIRC.

Roddenberry's personal views are one thing, but he definitely supported the idea of total male/female equality while respecting the differences between them.
