EW Reporter Saying TSCC Is Dead

The producers always do that because they don't want to be the bearer of the bad news. Just like EJO accidentally slipped about the cancellation of NuBSG but then David Eicke said "NOOOOO we are not cancelled!". Couple of weeks later the truth came out.

From what I've read and heard, Sci-Fi just told them that Season 4 was the last season no matter what they did. The show was pretty much in the rearview mirror of the network, dispite how the BSG fans try to spin it. Occam's Razor, people.
 
I've read (not heard, this was actually written) that the actors were all signed to 5 year contracts. However, Ron Moore and Co decided to end the series after 4 seasons. This was decided before Season 3 was actually produced. It wasn't a cancellation. A cancellation is a notice that production is to stop after a season ends or during a season. It means the series doesn't actually have a finale. What happened to BSG and what may happen to TSCC are 2 different things. One ended with a finale, the other clearly hasn't finished its story.

Well, according to the statements and rumors at the time of the announcement, what happened was that the producers could either have a 13th episode 4th season, and maybe a fifth season (don't remember if it was solidly 13 or 20 episodes), or they could have a fourth season with a guaranteed 20 episodes. RDM either said or implied that there were two more chapters in the series in his mind, so it could either have been the 4th and 5th season, or the first and second halves of the 4th season.

If the show had gotten a guarantee of a 5th season, then the overall plot we saw in the 4th season would've still happened, with the major twists in the mythology of the show, but it would've been at a more leisurely pace, with more chances to explore side stories and minor characters and various other whatnot that caught the writers' interest.

This is not. The series was winding down (and being wound down) no question about that, but in theory they could have been given a fifth if ratings had warranted it. They weren't likely to, however, and as it would only have given them a few more episodes in the long run, Moore and Eick (correctly imo) decided to take the 20 episode season 4 deal. Of course... then SciFi decided to pretend that it was two seasons anyway, and made us wait for approximately half our lives for the final episodes :rolleyes:

Im confused...
Is this thread about TSCC or NuBSG? Cause I thought the title implied TSCC? No?

And whats with this Terminator Salvation not following T1.2.and 3? Thats totally stupid.What did they think...that the mythology laid out about the future war was just too far gone and figured they needed a fresh start? Ive now lost even more faith in this movie then when I heard the guy who directed the "Oscar Nominated" Charlie Angels franchise was doing Terminator...

You'd like to think that Moore and Eick are these major Hollywood players of Lucas-like proportions who pretty much have a U.S. mint in their back yard and has the final say in any project and damn the suits. Truth is, they made a decent series that had the "prestige" tag labeled on it by the critics that kept it from its inevitable cancellation, which would have been sooner, BTW, because it was hemmoraging vewiers from the get go. Around the time the third season rolled around, it was apparent that the risks outweighed the reward and Sci-Fi was going to close shop, but decided (since they have the money) to allow Moore and Eick to save face and wrap it up. I'm looking at this practical standpoint.
 
Spin? I just saw no reason to disbelieve what we were told at the time. Why would they lie when the difference was at most, six episodes? Unless you have proof that that was not the deal, why don't you trust that it took place? It seems perfectly reasonable. If ratings were the only factor in BSG's survival, it'd have died after Season 3, no doubt - the ratings were abysmal.

Also: no word on Terminator yet, I'm pretty sure :(

I don't care - BSG was a good story which had to have a finite run by definition - I just don't like being accused of "spin" when I'm just stating the facts as we were told them. As I previously stated, the ratings were abysmal, the fans acknowledge that, yet we still got a fourth season, so where exactly is the spin happening?

Some dude is running around saying he got to go on set to interview someone with a friend, and asked to see the Terminator set. They said no... we tore it down... :shifty:

So now he's posted saying the show is canceled and everyone is quoted that one guy.

Terminator ratings are up. Up. There is a movie coming up, so more people will view the show, it's a thing that happens.

There has been no, I repeat, no!! Official cancellation notice. There will not be til mid-may when FOX announces it's line-up.

This one guy's blog is getting so out of control!!
