Best novel(s)?

Steve Mollman used to have a Trek novel ranking site (before he defected to join the ranks of writers himself). It predated some of the newer novels getting mentoned above. The novels getting the most votes on it included:

Uhura’s Song
Stitch in Time
Immortal Coil
Strangers from the Sky
Imzadi
Sarek
Federation

WAY too many books.... uhm.

The Pandora Principle
The Destiny Trillogy (Really, almost anything by David Mack)
Articles of Federation (Ditto for Keith R.A. DeCandido)
Q-Squared
Full Circle

I'm flattered to be listed by so many of you. But I'll just chalk it up to short memories not recalling the greatness of John Vornholt, Daffyd ab Hugh, Diane Duane, and many others who were writing great Trek novels before I ever put pen to paper ... :-)

I recall all of them. I don't enjoy Vornholt's or ab Hugh's writing at all. Far as I'm concerned, your entries on my list were not earned due to poor memory. :bolian:

I am currently reading the first Titan novel, good stuff. As for my favorite Star Trek novels... 'Prime Directive', 'The Lost Years" to name a couple.

I believe that the very best Star Trek novel ever is generally accepted to be The Price of the Phoenix by Marshak and Culbreath.

Tough choice, but my favorites would have to be:

The Crucible trilogy
Serpents Among the Ruins
Pathways
A Stitch in Time
Rising Son
The Dark Matters trilogy

Crucible:McCoy
Before Dishonor
Greater Than The Sum
The Entropy Effect
The Ashes Of Eden
Titan: Taking Wing
Destiny bks 1-3

My favorites...

Star Trek: Destiny
VOY: Full Circle
DS9: Millenium
TNG: Q&A
TOS: Sarek
VOY: Echoes
SCE: Sargasso Sector
NF: Stone & Anvil
TOS: Crucible: Kirk - The Star to Every Wandering
TTN: Orion's Hounds
Vanguard: Harbinger
Klingon Empire: A Burning House
DS9: Olympus Descending

I could list a ton more, but that's a fairly even slice of my favorites.

Only one listed in prior posts I don't agree with; ss far as recent work goes I greatly enjoyed Greg Cox's Eugenics War Trilogy and the String Theory Trilogy. Vulcan Soul trilogy was stupendous. Serpent among the Ruins was noteworthy as well as Full Circle and A Burning House. KRAD, Beyer and Mack are galactic treasures.

(added links to Memory Beta) and I'd like to add Serpents Among the Ruins (Be carefull this has a detailed summary), Imzadi, (this too) Articles of the Federation, and The Art of the Impossible (another summary).
Tough choice, but my favorites would have to be:

The Crucible trilogy
Serpents Among the Ruins
Pathways
A Stitch in Time
Rising Son
The Dark Matters trilogy
Gah, I can't belive I forgot A Stitch in Time.

Oh, and the Mirror and Myriad Universe books. (I've only read four of the six MyrU stories, but they were good enough I'm comfortable including the whole series). Of course not all of the stories in the two series are of equal quality, but so far none they've all been good enought to be included.

I've always loved Diane Duane's books, such as Spock's World and the Rihannsu series. I've noticed some of her books have been mentioned before, so I'll just "second" them.

There are two that stand out as 'brilliant'...(And by brilliant, I mean the authors take Star Trek from the cookie cutter mold and expand on the characters and situations).

Those two are:

*To Reign in Hell
*Crucible: McCoy

I have to say I enjoy the Errand of Vengeance novels as well...(and looking to read the Errand of Fury series soon).

I've been spending a year reading Trek novels from all across the publishing timeline, and while I've enjoyed Duane, those other two haven't written anything in the same league as Destiny or your Vanguard entries. Not even close.
