Best novel(s)?

Hi,

I wanted to ask if there's some sort of consensus among Trek fans which novel(s) are to be considered the best ever written?

When you ask which (non-Trek) science fiction novels are among the best ever written you'll probably get answers like "Dune", "Foundation" etc. But what are the "must reads" or "classics" of Trek literature?

Thanks!

(Sorry if there was a thread like this before, but when I try to seach for "best novel", Trek BBS tells me that both these words are "too common" and can't be searched for. :p)

Well, I am a big fan of the Shatner books. Ashes of Eden (the first one) is probably the best.

My favorites are the Titan series, Vanguard series, and the Post-Finale DS9 books.

The Entropy Effect
Wounded Sky
Strangers From the Sky
Crucible: McCoy
The Final Reflection
and as far as an entire series of books, Vanguard is really good.

There are a lot of greats. My current favorites include:
Ex Machina by Christopher L. Bennett
Articles of the Federation by Keith R.A. DeCandido
The Destiny trilogy by David Mack
Vanguard: Harbinger by David Mack
Full Circle by Kirsten Beyer
...& Klingon Empire: A Burning House by Keith R.A. DeCandido.

Hopefully you can check some of these out if you haven't already :techman:

My alltime favourites include

Crucible: McCoy
Yesterday's Son & Time for Yesterday
Vulcan's Forge
Once Burned
The Art of the Impossible

Prime Directive, which got recognition from Orci and Kurtzman the new movie's writers, is my favourite.

also:

Orion's Hounds (TTN #3)
Destiny 1-3
A Burning House
Burning Dreams
Sarek
Q&A
Before Dishonour
Double or Nothing

are among my other favourites.

Imzadi
Avatar
Vanguard: Harbinger
The Good That Men Do
Greater Than the Sum
Destiny Trilogy
Orion's Hounds
Pathways
Crucible: McCoy
Full Circle

Way too many to name. I loved the Crucible Series, Rising Son. SCE is great as well.

My personal favorites include Spock's World, Articles of the Federation, Destiny III: Lost Souls, Crucible: McCoy: Provenance of Shadows, and Reap the Whirlwind.

Anyway if I were to choose some greats they'd be:

DS9 Millennium Trilogy
...

Really? I struggled with that so hard at times...
And I don't know why cuz I really wanted to read it! But it wasn't what I was expecting!

Anyhoo,
Warpath -David Mack
Serpents Among the Ruins -David R. George III
Avatar 1 & 2 -S. D. Perry
There's been some great stuff in SCE...

*throws up hands*
Too many books...
