Toys out early!

Any word on if there's going to be a Robau figure at some point in the line's existence?

Does the toy of the new Enterprise from the new Star Trek movie.......

.....come out this Friday or this weekend?

Cause according to this:

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3335521

It says it is shipping on April 17th (this Friday) but by do you think by any chance it will actually be in the store on the 17th? Or will it probably be in the store sometime over the weekend?

Thanks!

The Walmart in my area (Schenectady/Capital District of NY) has had the ship and figures since this past Monday.

I have them all now.

Ordered the Bridge & Transporter play sets on Amazon this past weekend.
(expect to get them next week some time)

Just got back from TRU. Got a ship and a Kirk. Besides that the only other figure they had was Nero.

Cue the Star Trek The Motion Picture V'ger/Decker merger music and effects.

Anybody in Canada find them yet? I just took a look in Calgary today and they said they hadn't heard anything about it :( .

Those suckers are going quick. I went at 11 pm on Monday, got a whole bunch of stuff, went again the next day at around 1 pm and the aisles were picked clean. Just one ship left and a few Neros.

A Kelvin would be awesome to see produced!!!

:) It would be great adversary starship for the Narada to face off against, IMO!

saddestmoon, just tried to PM you but it wouldn't let me. Just wondering if you're on Rebelscum as well? Thought I recognised the handle!

[BACK ON TOPIC]

I'm hearing really mixed things about these figures, but can't wait to get them in hand! For those who have them, would you recommend the 3.75" or the 6" versions? I was going to opt for the 3.75", but am curious..

I think it depends on whether you want them simply as genuine toys to be played with or as collector's items to be solely displayed or kept in the box. I think the entire Playmates line is geared towards actual kids, but the larger scale figures--especially the 12-inch ones--seem to be more for collectors, IMO. Personally, I'm a kid who never grew up playing with my brother's Star Wars action figures, so the 3.75-inch figures are kind of reminiscent of those kinds of toys (built more for rough & tumble play and not so much for 100% detail).

But for any completists going for the smaller figures, I would really recommend getting Uhura immediately if you see one. As mentioned in an earlier post, that figure is short-packed in the cases and there may only be one or two available in some stores...

Well I haven't noticed them going quick. The pegs are still full at my store, plus one of the wally's I've been to. I know we are ahead of them cuz we have the tricorder and phaser as well. I have to agree through, playmates has improved their likeness of characters pretty good.

I want an army of Robau figures to face off against an army of Stormtrooper figures. It'd be the most badass action figure fight in HISTORY.

Thoughts on the new toys, and the old toys

I collect the old Playmates line, and was quite disappointed that the new figures don't fit in well with the old guys. Still, I did a little customizing with Nero last night, and now he fits in pretty well!

I'm really glad that Playmates figured out a way to release the complete bridge by including the bonus bridge stations. I actually think that giving kids a feel for the playsets will help figure sales and create serious brand loyalty.

Star Wars collectors have been bugging Hasbro to try a B.A.P (Build-A-Playset) bonus for some time, and their suggestions have mostly been ignored. I really hope that this takes off, and shows toy companies that playsets, even when released in unique ways, can be viable again. I have some really good memories of the Ghostbuster's firehouse, the 1701-D bridge, and of course Yoda's pad on Dagobah, we really had it good twenty years ago!

Of course, being a collector of the 4.5 inch guys, I wish that the playsets were a little bigger, but the trade off is that the old Playmates vehicles are now pretty close to scale, and with a quick mod, could even allow figures to sit next to each other at the controls for the first time since the old Galoob season one shuttle. If I planned to collect in the 3.75 inch line, I would hit ebay for the Classic Shuttlecraft, the Runabout, and even the 3.75 guys released in the 80's by Galoob (Next Gen)
, Mego (Motion Picture), and Ertl (Search for Spock).

You do know that Robau's voice has been dubbed by Anna Ferris in the final cut? And that includes both of his lines.

I just went to a Wal-Mart here in Tampa, FL to see if they had the ship yet and they didn't. :(
