Comfort food

Homemade biscuits and sausage gravy. Flaky, hot, creamy, spicy....with a nice cup of coffee.

Everything about it is comforting, the smell, the texture, the different flavors...definitely one of my favorites. :)

When I was little and I used to get sick, my grandma would buy me my favourite biscuits... but by then I was usually too sick to eat them (that's how she knew it was time to worry ). If only she had bought me those when I was well! During my childhood, biscuits were a twice a year treat, if I was lucky, otherwise I never saw them at all. Nowadays, I associate biscuits with sickness and a loss of appetite. Weird, but true.

Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tarts, homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cream Of Wheat, Chinese Spare Ribs....

(beef) Nilaga, pork Sinigang (extra sour), or chicken Caldareta...

Uhm, I can't think of their English equivalents, but basically, home-cooked Filipino food. It's what my momma raised me on.

Panda express can get it too. :)

My mum's spaghetti and meatballs is what gets me through the bad days. I don't know what it is about it, but it just makes me feel loved. :)

As for junk food, I love paprika chips most of all.

A special place in my heart is held by pizza though.

Chocolate, potato chips, pretzels, and once in a great while, Cheetos cheese puffs. Chips and salsa are a fantastic snack.

There's nothing like curling up on the sofa on a cold day, and watching your favorite show while munching on crunchy, salty chips. YUM.

Oh right. Well just for the record there was absolutely no chance in hell of me EVER getting that joke. Never even heard of that before.
Just as well. There are a fair number of people on this side of the pond who don't know what the hell a Doner Kebab is, or know it by another name.

Count yourself lucky. Kebabs are cut in just-barely-hygiene-certificated shops where the 'meat' is in a large block that turns, sweating, in front of a hotplate. *shivers* Not something I'd choose to eat.

When I am slumming it I like to whip up a venison steak with bearnaise sauce and a nice glass of oakey Rioja.
