126 minutes 39 seconds

2 hours 6 minutes 39 seconds is the exact run-time of the movie.

The British Film Board has screened it and that's the official time.

Most sources had said 126 minutes, but a few had held to the early inaccurate time of 140 minutes.

I'm glad Abrams wasn't doggedly commited to the exact 2 hour run-time he mentioned early this year. Some folks thoguht his off-hand remark was cast in stone as being exactly two hours.

Still hope we get some deleted stuff on blu-ray.

Better then those 100 minute glorified TNG episodes Berman used to mandate and called them movies.

Insurection was a joke. 103 minutes??? Search for Spock 105?

Why bother to make a movie based on a TV series and have it be shorter than a two-part episode?

Gee, did Berman go back in time and "mandate" that "Search For Spock" be short, or is this a condition that may have existed throughout the Franchise's movie run without regard to who the producer is?

The mind boggles.

Um, a two-part episode, even in the TOS days, would be about 100 minutes (50 minutes per ep). Obviously that's not counting commercials.

I'm currently renting DS9 season 2 and those episodes are about 45 minutes each, or 90 min. total for a 2-parter.

Wow you're good with math!!

Except the combined credits for a TV show opening & closing total about 2 1/2 minutes.

Combined opening and closing credits for Insurection---at least 10---nice try though.

And other smart-ass I didn't refer to berman---that was the other poster. I wasn't assigning blame to berman for TSFS

Besides, who says it has to be long to be good? I will agree that I like long movies, but not all long movies are good. How about Ironman, which was two movies stuck together and really started to drag toward the end?

Seriously, Undiscovered was only 113 - that is not much longer!

On another note, STXI will be the second longest Trek Movie, so at least it is going long.

Yes and with the amount of action in it, it should be a jammed packed 126 minutes and not a slow-paced 132.

Totally agree yakueb; movies are no different to music. A piece can suck if it's short or long - slow, medium or fast paced. A piece can be magical if it's short or long - slow, medium or fast paced.

WATCH THE MOVIE FIRST PLEASE!

Weird, the Brussels premiere site claims it's only 102. Well, that is probably a typo.

(Gonna see it tomorrow!!!)

^^Very profound.

But since the movie has gotten very positve reviews---we're getting a fairly long quality movie with room for lots of action and character development.

None of the reviews have said it drags or has parts that don't seem neccessary. So in the case of a good movie---longer is better.

I shall immediately start bitching that the movie time is too long and that it could easily be 1 hour 40 minutes and tell a good story.

Yes!!!

There are many classic sci-fi movies with 90 minute run-times!!!!

And even though Trek 11 is apparently pretty darn good at 126 minutes---it should be cut down by because some people insist movie's don't need to be long to be good and cutting this movie down will prove that.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the credits running time is close to 6 minutes, leaving the actual film time to close to the 120 Abrams was supposedly shooting for.
