Acer Aspire One AOA 150 w/160gb hard drive 1gb memory. Windows XP - Blue

If I can figure out the wireless card upgrade switch it will have OSX installed in a couple months down the road. A MacBook clone without the Apple Tax.

HP Pavilion dv5t, 15.4", duo Core 2.4GHz processor, multimedia laptop, running Vista 64bit. Fingerprint magnet. Battery hog. Otherwise, really great machine. 1/3rd the price of equivalent Apple laptop. :techman:

I adore pearls -- my favorite jewelry. My mom is leaving me her mother's pearl necklace, an ancient thing that must be worth a fair few thousands, but I'll have to wait for that. As I'm hoping my mother lives to a ripe old age, I thought I'd alleviate some of the pain of waiting with some freshwater pearls that are actually affordable ($100). Plus, I have freshwater pearl earrings in several natural colors that will all work perfectly with this.

I bought a freshwater pearl necklace in Maui over a decade ago and it's one for the smartest purchases I've ever made. I love how short it is and how the bumpy square pearls stay flat on my neck. :)

I apparently like to stay out of this thread for a while, and then jump in and "win" before disappearing again for a while, so here goes, here's what I've bought in the last couple months (last post in here being the Engagement Ring in December):

-2009 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, 4x4, Double cab, long bed, TRD Sport edition. A dark gray color, I love it.

-2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 motorcycle, bright red. Got it from a guy on Craigslist, only had 4k miles on it, and in perfect condition. Sissy bar, triple lights up front, cobra pipes, it's great. Just getting warm enough to ride it now, put 100 miles or so on it thus far.

-Samsung LN40A550 LCD TV. Redoing the basement as an extra living room/den, so repainted everything, fixed up the bar, and then bought this shiny TV for the wall. In the process of running wires, rerouting electricity for everything, etc. Also going to re-do the top of the half-wall around the basement so i can hide all of the cables underneath that. As part of that, got a nice surround sound system to go with it all, and another sweet Logitech Harmony remote to control it all. Once you've used one of those, you'll never touch another remote again, SUCH an improvement.

-Along those same lines, bought a reclining sectional couch for down there. Got a great deal on a 1 year old couch from Craigslist from someone who's moving and couldn't take this giant monstrosity with them.

That ought to do it for me and my credit card for a little while, time to enjoy those toys and let us both recover. Recession? What recession?

Great time to take advantage of great deals by slumping retailers, or make purchases off of Craigslist from people that overextended themselves and need to sell their expensive toys. If you've got money in the bank and a steady job, great time to spend a little money. I'm just helping stimulate the economy ;)

Edited to add: Happy Birthday, An Officer!

Thanks! :D Went out for a nice lunch, and saw at least two other people celebrating a birthday, too... popular day, apparently.

Happy birthday, An Officer. :techman:

My latest...

Purchase: A P'Zone at Pizza Hut.

Anti-purchase: At Costco this afternoon, I talked my dad out of buying a ShamWow. :guffaw:

I have to go buy stuff for graduation tomorrow, which irritates me. All I want is the damn piece of paper, not a silly gown and assorted nonsense. Oh well, I'm sure my parents will get a kick out of it. I'll just suffer through the silly stuff as always. At least no one made me pay anything for the piece of crap that was my high school graduation ceremony!

I got some Krytox for my VW Eos today. Krytox is a special lubricant that I put on the rubber seals around the folding hardtop twice a year. It's expensive as hell (€60/$80 for 30ml), but it works great.

Yay! My print is arriving tomorrow! :)

Boo! It will be arriving "some time between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m." :(

Good thing I don't have any classes.

I picked up a few more things at the Coldwater Creek sale:

a turquoise print T-shirt and a solid turquoise T-shirt, since it's already hot here.

a dark brown structured cotton jacket, since people here turn the A/C up so high, you need a sweater inside, while it's 88F degrees outside.

Hickory flooring in my living room and a year's supply of daily-wear contact lenses. It was an expensive day!

Just received this newly-released ThinkPad Bluetooth laser mouse. I think it jives nicely with my old-school ThinkPad, eh? ;)

Also on order is a prop replica of the phaser from ST: XI

I got a new haircut, inspired by Shirley MacLaine in The Apartment, pre-mod bob, (which I posted in the pic thread too). It is so liberating to have such short hair, I love it! Totally worth $70!

That's quite the change! Looks good, too. The second pic is a bit dark; what's that in your hair? Peacock feathers?

Today I got to spend $93 to have some guys come over and clean out my pipes. That's pipes in the house but go ahead and insert obvious jokes here...

It's not fun if you pre-empt the gags. :(

Cool. Is this the guy you were debating escrow options with? Glad it worked out.

Hope it arrived OK. I'm doing the same waiting game this morning for some shirts. I don't want to miss the delivery because then I won't be able to go pick them up or get them redelivered until Tuesday.

Otherwise, I haven't been buying much... I did get a lovely beige/pale-green glen-plaid silk pocket square from Ralph Lauren yesterday. Very summery.

I bought this wall hanging at the market today. When I bought it I thought I would hang it above my mantelpiece but it is too big so I will hang it elsewhere in my lounge room.

Nope, that guy was being unreasonable, and just didn't really seem to want to make an effort to sell the bike, so I walked from that one. Found another one that actually worked out to be a better deal on a nicer bike, so worked out great for me, and this guy had his shit together :p
