Here's how to do the gay character: Have the main young white guy (Matthew Scott) be gay. He's the one we'll all think of as the "lead character" who is "not allowed" to be gay.

And then make no big deal out of it. It's not like sex is going to be the top of anyone's minds, considering that they are trying to survive. A more mature show could delve into some of the issues of these people all being crammed together indefinitely, but maybe they should just leave that alone.

Maybe they'll have an hour of just gay sex at one point. It'd be better than the last season of Atlantis, at least and it'd probably improve the ratings for that episode. Could be interesting.

If you really want that you should watch Torchwood not a Stargate series.

That'll really attract female fans. Wasn't Oz really popular with women? They could write their own Beecher/Keller soap opera too.

They can't have a gay military guy on the show, he would have been kicked out of the military and the USA Airforce actually reads the scripts to give the OK to things.

However the gay characters will both be females.

Didn't Obama said he was going to do something about "Don't ask, don't tell"? For now, I guess Robert Carlyle could be gay. Anyway, I think the whole "no one on Stargate could be gay because the USAF reads the script" excuse is a poor one. It's a tv show.

A TV show that accepts and relies upon the support of the US military, does it not? I don't see the producers jeopardizing that relationship in order to include gay characters. The military's gay policy could all change under Obama, of course, but it hasn't as of yet.

I wonder how involved the military will be in the show now though, I mean it made sense for SG-1, but this isn't SG-1, and it certainly wasn't needed for Atlantis.

Free P-90s and whatever military money shot they might need? I'm sure that "United States Space Command" will still be credited at least.

Ugh.

Nice way to make Stargate seem good by comparison, tho. :rommie:

Okay it might be unrealistic that the gay character be out of the closet (if that character is in the military - some of the characters won't be) but I would be disappointed if the military advisers try to censor a script that depicts a gay person being in the military but simply not admitting it - a situation which everyone knows exists, and is reasonable fodder for drama regardless of the military's policy.

The advisers' role is to make sure the script is accurate. A gay soldier who is hiding his/her orientation isn't inaccurate. (If they read scripts, I don't know what those people do.)

The adviser's role is to censor the hell out of anything that paints the U.S. Military in a remotely poor light. Have you heard of the book discussed here? It's a totally distasteful policy, but it's the situation that exists.

My theory was that they were only going to have one gay character on the show until they realized it's hard to do girl-on-girl action when you only got one lesbian. :)

Why is it everyones love to have gay characters on tv shows? Why should someones sexual choice even be brought up in a syfy show?
Am i the only one here that dont want to watch any gay couple screwing around.
Sorry but its clear this show isnt the Stargate that i loved and enjoyed with my family.

Im just sorry the gay agenda has to pushed on those whom arent gay.

Yeah - why wasn't I asked if I wanted to see men and women kissing on tv and in movies? It is unnatural, compared to my inclination and I find it distasteful to watch it.

Unfortunately, everywhere I go I see men and women holding hands and being intimate, to varying degrees. To see, maybe a man being intimate with another man in a tv show represents MY experience of love and togetherness.

I mean, who knows snick - maybe one of YOUR kids may even grow up to be gay, although with your attitude, I hope not, for THEIR sake.

:lol: What a pathetic post, thankfully the two posts below it put you in your place.

Why does the heterosexual agenda have to be pushed on those whom aren't heterosexual? (You could ask)

You see Sam and Pete have a relationship in SG-1.
It would be exactly the same to see the gay male character have a relationship with another male character. It's exactly the same. And that's assuming there is one. Who knows

That's life. Get used to it. Get your prejudices and bigotry the fuck out of here.

I think in order to use the Air Force name or logos and such in any TV or Movie they have to give the OK first.

Of course they can just make a scientist gay, and that would solve the problem. Daniel did have a think for Jack... :)

But once again it will be females so they can hot lesbo sex!
