They say Obama is something of a Trekkie. But I don't know if this is true. But I mean, being the President gotta have its perks. I know I would give an order to get me the film before everyone else if I were him...
I don't think it's in the purview of Executive Privilege to issue a Presidential Order for an advanced screening of the latest star Trek film.
I was trying to joke... But wouldn't it be easier for all of us people fretting about the future of the franchise if he just issued an executive order that compelled every US citizen to see the film in a theater? Sort of a Star Trek stimulus package?

well, now that Kal Penn is gonna be working for the Prez, they might as well invite best buddy John Cho over and have a real screening.
I think that happened on the night of his Primary win. Michelle was wearing her favorite belt which kinda looks "spacey", and Obama spotted it before they went out to greet the crowd. he bent down, poked at the belt, and said, "Ooh, dilithium crystals! Beam me up, Scotty!"

Neither and not uncommon.
Presidents often get to see movies early, as they have to be screened at the White House thanks to security concerns (and more than one sitting president has HATED this fact because it makes "going to the movies" impossible)
And Obama is a known Trekkie. He gave the Vulcan salute to Nimoy while on the campaign trail and has referred to Trek, Star Wars, and other sci fi movies and books numerous times in his speeches.

I'm not sure about GWB, but apparently Clinton was an avid movie watcher that had many films screened in the White House.
They should have offered Obama a part as president of Starfleet Academy
