The Trek Screencap Game: The Adventure Continues...

It took me sooooo long to find where that spelling error was! Wow! I used to be an ace speller back in elementary school, then spell check came along, we al knowe ho thes storie edns.

EDIT: By the way... a thread about screencaps seemed to be a good place for this. I used to use TrekCore to link friends to images over IM when discussing a particular scene or ep or whatever. Suddenly, links to the actual images sent over IM seem to produce nothing but "403 Forbidden" screens for all of us. Has anyone else had this problem?
I suppose it's a measure against bandwidth theft.
Hm, maybe. I'm thinking about emailing them or something to find out. I mean, if it IS a measure against bandwidth theft (or something along those lines), then that's fine. I won't raise a stink about it or anything. But I'm curious, and I do want to make sure it's not something that isn't supposed to be happening (and thus, could potentially be fixed), cause having that screencap archive is really nice, and not being able to just go "Oh yeah, that was a great scene/ep/moment/whatever! (links image)" during conversations is kind of a bummer.

i have an issue that didn't use to be a problem. now, if i copy the page of screencap and paste it into photobucket and enter them into the portfolio successfully

Continuing forth with our Lovely Ladies Of Trek Theme...

I'm just going to take a wild guess with Cause and Effect.

A test; does this work: http://tng.trekcore.com/gallery/albums/s2/2x21/peakperformance001.jpg

EDIT: Yeah, it works for me. No error message there.

^ Quality of life is correct. Sorry, but i'm no help with your image problem. :(
No worries Lead. I appreciate the concern. :)
Hm, which Instant Messenger do you use, Saito S?
AIM mostly. On my Mac, I use Adium as my chat program, though it's still through the AIM service. I also have a GTalk account. I'll try both of those at some point just to see what happens. This whole thing is very strange. lol
On with the game! Something a bit more difficult this time... :D

Negative. Wrong season, as well.

And on that note, I'm going to sleep. I'll check the thread again in about 8 hours or so. ;)

Hm, unfortunately I have no experience with those Instant Messengers. It's one possibily that your IM program somehow scrambles the URL while you're posting it. Is the URL that gets posted to your correspondence really the one you inserted? Also, does that only happen with links to images from TrekCore.com?

As for your screencap: Is it from The Pegasus?

Negative to all so far. I'll drop more hints about which season it's from or who's closest if no one gets it in the next "round" of guesses.

As for the image thing... I did finally test it with GTalk, and it didn't work there either. Here is what is so bizarre: it used to work (with AIM) just fine. A particular friend of mine just got into Trek within the last year or so. For months, we'd be talking about the last several eps he just watched (he finished TNG a couple weeks ago, and is currently in season 3 of DS9 :D), and one of us would randomly link to a screencap from Trek Core as a reference for some moment from whicever ep. Then, suddenly, about 2-3 weeks ago, it just wouldn't work anymore. Linking to them produced an error page, for both of us. And we both tried linking other friends to them over AIM, and got the same results. So it's weird, cause it's not that it just doesn't work with AIM... it DID work, then something changed.

And when I clicked on the link you posted here in the thread, NCC-1701, it worked just fine then too. And I linked my friend to this thread, and directed him to your post, and when he clicked on the link, it worked fine for him. Yet when either of us would paste that link (or any screencap link from Trek Core) into the IM window... error page. The whole thing is just :wtf:.

EDIT: Also, just to answer your last question NCC, it does indeed happen only with screencap links from TrekCore.com. Links to other sites are fine, but also (get this), links to any other page on TrekCore are fine. If I paste, say, this link http://ds9.trekcore.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=83&page=2 into the IM window, which leads to page 2 of the screencaps for the episode "Civil Defense", he can click on it and it will take him there, no problem. But if I paste this link http://ds9.trekcore.com/gallery/albums/3x07/civildefense_018.jpg into the IM window, which leads directly to the first image in the top row, then bzzzt: error page. You can see why this is so disconcerting.
