The biggest Loser

Everbody talks about The Amazing Race and Survivor, but does anyone watch the best show "The Biggest Loser"

It is my secret shame. :alienblush:

I don't watch any other reality show except this one. I don't particularly enjoy all the orchestrated drama but I am fascinated by the transformations these people make. That and the training tips and recipes are what keep me watching.

Also I haven't watched last night's episode yet so no spoilers please!

From time to time.

Loved the last season in Australia, especially the fact that the kid who won spiked another contestants food by swapping out low/no fat variety for the full version and that contestant got in the bottom two by all of a hundred grams or something like that.

Yes, I started watching last season. It's a pretty interesting show. I'm not trying to lose weight but I love seeing how these people transform. Some of them, especially Tara, are looking really good now!

I like Tara a lot and hope that she goes far. She will have to work hard though...she falls below the yellow line just once and she will be gone for sure. Hopefully her new attitude will help her out.

I can't stand Filipe.

When it comes to reality show, I give this one a pass. Because everyone there is better off in the end regardless of who wins.

Yeah, that's sort of how I feel. A lot of the contestants show up to the ranch taking tons of different meds and by the time they leave they are off most if not all of them just due to proper diet and exercise.

I like that the gameplay drama doesn't overwhelm this show as much as some others. However, does anyone remember that bitch from last year? I can't remember her name right now, but she was the one who seemed to not care at all about losing weight, who just wanted the money. She was evil. And of course, once she went home, she didn't lose hardly any weight and continued to feed her children bad food because "that's all they like." She was an ugly person.

I don't really like the whole Bob alliance thing that seems to happen every year. It feels like Bob brainwashes all of his team to think he is god and they must hate Jillian and always vote together. Even when they are now individuals he wants them to vote as an alliance, but I think that's kind of ridiculous for this show. You should try to help yourself before you help your team when you are playing as individuals. If it helped Ron to vote for Filipe, he should have done it.

Ron is getting really irritating too. At first he was the nice wise father figure, but now he is kind of rude and really obsessed with keeping his son on the show. It's understandable, but he talks about it constantly in this dramatic soap opera fashion and I'm just over it. He also seems to think he knows better than everyone else. Like the one week when Aubrey said "my sister really needs to be here." And Ron was like "NO, she doesn't, it is her time to go." Why is he the one suddently deciding these things?!

I like the show in that the physical transformations are possible, but without the gameplay aspect of it, it wouldn't be nearly as compelling.

I would love to see a special where they bring out everyone who ever competed to see how they're doing now. Bob was interviewed on a local news show and they asked him how many have kept the weight off and he said about half of the contestants have.

Vicky. Yeah, she was a total bitch. Her underling Heba wasn't much better.

I think you need to take into consideration this show is heavily edited. They shoot for a week and all we see is 120 minutes or so. The editors pick the stuff they think has the most juice so we really don't get to see the whole picture.

I have no problem with Ron being as vocal as he is. It's a game after all and if the rest of them want to listen to him then its their problem, not his.

I agree. He's really become annoying lately. If you go by his system of who should go home, he should have left a few weeks ago. Specifically, it was when they all went home for a week and he lost ten pounds on his own. That proved he didn't need the campus anymore, but of course he didn't bring it up. I was hoping he'd go this week, but Kristen saved him which will probably bite her in the ass down the road.

I can hear him now - "It's your time to go, Kristen."

I think it's time for Kristen go as well. I'm hoping that the former models win!!

Just watched the latest episode. When they went to Subway I was amazed at how good Jerry from last season looks.

i've never seen this show before this season....i love it, idk why i never saw it before....it's an amazing show....i lost 30 lbs over the summer and it amazes me that those people lose 50, 80, 100, etc pounds....

I watch it and generally enjoy it. I fast forward through the gym workouts usually. And I HATE the commercials they do with the contestants and trainers. You can tell Gillian REALLY hates doing those, too.

I love the workouts. I like watching how these people feel what it truly means to be active.

The product placement scenes are absolutely painful to watch. Just embarassing.

Bob will walk in and see them eating lunch. "Oh, what are you guys doing?" "We are making lunch Bob." "Oh, I have a great idea to show you guys! Come over here to the fridge...instead of a sandwich, why don't you try some low-fat sugar-free Yoplait yogurt parfaits?" "Oh my gosh. That is a great idea Bob." "Yeah, MMMMMMMMMMM, Bob this is so good."

It's always sad how you can predict them coming from a mile away too. It becomes so obvious when they are acting out a conversation instead of being natural. That's how I know the rest of the show is not scripted - they are awful actors.

Wow, that's exactly why I won't watch this show - or practically any reality show - it's great that people are being motivated to lose weight but it's sickening that they would be induced to sabotage each other that way. Can't they do a show where everyone does their best to lose weight and get healthier? And they kick people off the show who are trying to lose weight, unbelievable! Then they go home and eat Doritos, feeling like a failure. Nice.

Even reality shows that showcase talent - dancing, singing - still annoy the hell out of me. It's all the manufactured draaama revolving around the competition. It's just too sickening, phoney and contrived for me to tolerate.

The ONE reality show I can watch is the home makeover one, where they just find a deserving family and frakking well build them a home. No bullshit "competition." What, are they going to pit two perfectly deserving families against each other? That would be a farce. It's nice seeing the results at the end of the show (I usually just skip the first 45 minutes). Nice people get a nice home, Craftsman and Sears get their hour-long ads, everyone wins.

^Well to be fair that is the Australian version and I've never seen stuff like that going on on the American version. This is actually the "nicest" reality competition show I've seen. Last season there was a real bitch who was obviously only in it for the money, but I've never seen sabotage going on. Usually getting healthy and losing weight together IS the main focus, so don't let that deter you from watching the show.

Also, the people who go home are still in it to lose the most weight by the finale show. They can't win the big prize but they get a lesser amount of money.

This current season they were in teams of two and one team member had to go home for a month and try to lose weight there while their team member on the ranch lost weight too. It was done to show that you really could lose weight on your own at home if you put your mind to it. It's very much an inspirational type of show.

I wonder what the "rules" are about the home weight loss. Are you forbidden to use programs like Jenny Craig? What about lyposuction? I just wonder what guidelines they have to follow since they can't be "watched" by the show's producers.

I wonder that too. I also wondered how often the cameras were there at their homes, because every episode they spent a good chunk of time showing footage from the contestants at home, so there were definitely cameras about. I just wonder if it was every day or once a week.
