If properly written, Thor (even before possessing the Odinforce) is easily the most formidable of the heroes listed—if one factors in the cosmic powers he's demonstrated over the years. [The Silver Surfer, sometimes listed as his better, actually admits that Thor is more powerful.] On the other hand, if he's written as a bruiser with a bludgeon—Kurt Busiek's favorite portrayal—any number of those listed can whup him.

In a ten vs. ten free-for-all, though, the DC heroes are going to win far more often than not.

DC. I've always been a Superman fanboy, and likely always will be.

When it comes to fightin', by the stats, the final round would probably be Superman and Martian Manhunter vs Thor and Hulk. If this is the pure, on paper version, Thor handily smashes Clark's and J'onn's skulls together into a fine paste. If its the better known old-school berserker Thor, the fight gets a lot more even, with about a 50% chance either way.

BTW Batman beat the crap out of Hulk in a Marvel/DC cross over, its not about strength or powers...its all a big popularity contest
That's all these things ever are. This thread included.

Considering that most of these characters are effectively modern gods tales, its up to the storytellers to tell you who would win. Practically any of them can do anything to any other one, it all depends on how creative the storyteller is. There's nothing to really argue in the end. Whoever you want to win is the one who'd win; it's that simple.

For example, you could say that Tony Stark managed to find a way to tap into the Odinforce when he helped clone Thor, and in the intervening months has secretly been building a new set of armor based upon that. One specifically designed to hunt and kill every superpowered being in the multiverse, Thor included, and all under the idea that someone had to be able to reign in the clone if things went sour. And you wouldn't be wrong in doing so because that's your prerogative as the storyteller. People may disagree -- just like they always do -- but that won't change the outcome one iota. Unless they, or someone else, decides to tell a story about how it was all a dream or... whatever else.

I agree. But the Marvel side is too much of a wienerfest though. And kudos to the Slim love. Good to see him there. Here's the way I see it:

Thor vs Superman: Again, it would be easy to say Superman. But Thor, now that he has Odin's powers, is leaps and bounds more powerful then Superman could ever be. Superman is also vulnerable to magic just like he is kryptonite. Guess what The Asgardians powers are made of? Guess what his hammer is made of? Magic. Logically, this one wouldn't even be close.

The Flash vs The Hulk: Speed vs Strength. I see this as a draw. Hulks not fast enough to hit Wally. And even Wally's super-fast punches wouldn't put a dent in The Hulk. He could try stomping the ground, but Wally's got The Speed Force. Unless he does that vibrate-thing where he could pull a Kitty Pride and stop Bruce's heart(which he won't do), I can't see either getting a solid hit on the other.

Here's how Wizard 97 wrote those two

VS. HULK: The Flash would just vibrate through the Hulk and , ewww, make him explode.

VS. SUPERMAN: While Supes has the edge in speed and flight (Thor gets pulled by his hammer; he doesn;t really fly.), once again Thor's warrior training and combat experience would give him the edge he needs to have more of his blows connect, eventually laying the Kryptonian flat. It's all in the name: Super-Man; Thor, God of Thunder.

Definitely DC.

Marvel just never interested me that much and the origins of half the characters are all just different takes on the same theme.

Marvel by a mile. While DC's top three characters (Supes, Batman and Wonder Woman may be better overall than Marvel's (Spiderman, Captain America and Wolverine??) , Marvel has more depth and IMO a more interesting universe. This one isn't even close.

Marvel's list is sexist - no girls. The DC club would be the place to be - I always had a soft spot for Babs and then there's WW - whoo whoo!!

DC by far all the way, that is POST crisis and PRE DiDio. The only time when I was hooked into buying comics every week they came out.

I won't say it's sexist, but I'd definitely take Hawkeye or Cyclops off of there and put Ms. Marvel in their place.

Well, I would if I could... :(

I don't know what the numbers are, or if female heroes in Marvel are represented in decent numbers, but it sure feels like there are far more high profile women heroes in DC.

Superman is probably the main reason I do not favor DC. He is just too powerful to be interesting. Marvel characters like Spider-Man actually face challenges. Marvel also has had characters who did not like their superhuman status like the Thing. Growing up, DC characters just seemed far too shallow for my tastes. Post Crisis DC has done some great work like the JLI, but marvel just still seems like a richer and more thought out reality.

I can think of plenty of high profile Marvel Superheroines : Ms. Marvel (...sniff.. sob... :( ), Spider-Woman, Wasp ( :( ), She-Hulk, Sue Storm, Rogue, Storm etc.

Interesting that you mention that! I always get confused between Superman for All Seasons and All Star Superman.

I have read both Trades. My main grouse (and it's really a pet peeve) is that you have a "balding" Luthor as opposed to a "bald" Luthor in Superman for All Seasons. That just really gets my goat everytime. It's like having Gene Hackman as Luthor (which I never accepted even tho' the movie was good).

Right now, I can't recall All-Star... tho' I think I've read it. Wikipedia, here I come...

Martain Manhunter vs. nobody.
