Big Popping Exploding Sound

Gryffindorian

Vice Admiral
Admiral
What was it? Just a few minutes ago, I heard a short, fairly loud burst from up above. This was the third or fourth time I'd heard it in my neighborhood, which is a residential area.

Some people often say it's a sonic boom, but what exactly causes it? There are no ultrasonic jet planes in the area.

It's the timeline changing in front of you, we can often hear the "shift" as the timeline diverges into a new one, of course, we don't retain in our memories what has changed between them.

Maybe some popping circuits in a telephone box.

Maybe secret aircraft with no scheduled flight plan.

Maybe your neighbor is trying to drive you crazy.

You'd hear the roar of a jet engine if it was a sonic boom. Fireworks, maybe?

Entirely possible, but my neighbors would have to be retarded to use fireworks toward the end of March. Plus it wasn't a series of sounds; it was just a short loud burst.

Mine fire off rockets all the time. It came from up in the air? Has this been the only night you've heard it?

The altitude seems to preclude gunshots, and if its happened multiple nights I find it hard to believe it could be meteors.

Aye. I've also ruled out thunder (the weather's been pretty dry here in the Bay Area; we actually have a drought).

It's those UFO's with the secret US Government Mind Controlling Ray...

Quick!!! put on a tinfoil hat!!

Do you live on the eastern seabord by any chance? There are numerous reports about residents in VA, MD, and NC seeing streaking lights followed by a explosions last night.

From Space.com's Andrea Thompson

Mysterious East Coast Boom Was Falling Russian Rocket

The mysterious boom and flash of light seen over parts of Virginia Sunday night was not a meteor, but actually exploding space junk from the second stage of a Russian Soyuz rocket falling back to Earth, according to an official with the U.S. Naval Observatory.
