The Sun strikes again (possible spoilers for final special)

Okay, if Rose comes back, I'm done with Who until the Tennant leaves.

I've had quite enough of that spoiled selfish cow.

Yeah, her ending was the perfect ending for that character, final, with no reason at all to come back to the "mother show."

That said, I could stand to have another five years of Donna Noble.

If this is true... IF... then Lonemagpie, with the exception of his views on Martha, has expressed my exact thoughts. With the same level of profanity I'd have used. ;)

maybe they are just going to do a montage for the regeneration a-la the 5th Doctor's.

Did think that Sims was pretty much done with Doctor Who with his appearance as The Master being pretty much a one shot deal.

I'm willing to bet on a "Caves" or "Castrovalva" sort of cameo sequence. Those were very moving and a great part of the resepctive regeneration sequences. Knowing Davies, for these three it'll likely be an extended sequence over the course of the finale episode where he lays dying and interacts with his lifetime's first three companions. Between the three of them, he is able to muster enough strength to do whatever he does to save the universe one last time. Utterly spent afterwards, he collapses while his three figment companions look on. Cue Matt Smith. :)

It makes sense from an emotional perspective to have these three as some part of the finale, as Tennant's remaining stories will only have one-shot companions - their being there will tug on the heartstrings more than anyone who would actually be companioning alongside the Doctor for the previous hour or two.

My remaining question would be WHY those three, and not any of the others he'll doubtless have had during his life? It's a strong rumour that during the finale episodes the Doctor will appear visibly aged, as though he'd spent quite some time since the Easter special wandering the universe. This is obstensibly so his character can return to the franchise without stretching plausibilty TOO much when Tennant really gets grey hair and more crow's feet. Surely during all the intervening years he'd have hung around with another Rose or Martha or Donna?

You can take it as read that said rant is conditional on the story being true, and given that the Sun is running about 70% right on DW spoilers, there's a reasonable chance.

To use the language with which you seem most comfortable; what a pile of fucking bullshit. For every story The Sun got right there's five or six that were complete works of fiction.(And that includes ones where they just broke the embargo date on official Press Releases.) Most people tend to forget about those though, just like the retards that go to see so-called psychics forget all the wrong guesses they make, to focus on the one they got right.

I've worked for a British tabloid newspaper (thankfully not in any sort of journalistic capacity or I'd have slit my wrists in shame) and know exactly how they work. Any quotes coming from unnamed "sources" or "insiders" are complete works of fiction.

But hey, believe what you want to believe since you're clearly just looking for something to reinforce your attitudes towards Davies.

Oh, all right, I tried to be sort of polite-ish and give a fuck about the code of conduct round here but, y'know what? I'm not in the mood.

You don't know me. If you did you'd know I think RTD has been the best thing since sliced bread and done everything right so far.

But I'm sick of fandom that sees any dissent from their view as bad, so

Go fuck yourself you worthless shit-eating, cocksucking mother-felcher, and may all your friends and family catch an amusing variety of Jade Goody type cancers and die a slow and painful death - post about it here and I'll read and laugh.

Now fuck off and stop wasting my time.

Jack was the Ninth Doctor's companion. He just occasionally popped up for the Tenth, much like Sarah Jane Smith.

What of River Song, then?

Uhhhh.... yeah. Can't think of any appropriate Doctor quotes, but that's a definite infraction for flaming. Comments to PM.

Rose= Oh for fuck's sake Rusty, you've now finally convinced me - after four years of thinking you were fucking fab - that you really do have a one-track fucking mind. Not only am I bloody sick of somebody I originally liked, because of the deification and obsession with her devalues every other companion ever, but the whole "gather all the companions for one big finale" is THE SAME FUCKING THING YOU DID LAST YEAR!.

IT'S DONE, IT'S OVER, GET FUCKING OVER THE CLINGY COW!

Jeez, and I though the "bring back Janeway" nutters on TrekBBS were bad enough!

Is there anything funnier than someone going off on a foul-mouthed attack against someone based purely on a made-up tabloid story?

If you're looking for nutters mate you might want to start by taking a glance in a handy mirror.
And you aren't exactly helping matters here, with comments about "nutters" like that. No more of that, shall we? :vulcan:

Jack was the Ninth Doctor's companion. He just occasionally popped up for the Tenth,
then how comes he done 5 episodes with each Doctor? like Rose I would say he is the companion of both the 9th & 10th Doctors.

As for Sara Jane, she is obviously a Classic series 3 & 4th companion, but 3 episodes with Tennant is very impressive.

Her ending at the end of Season 2 was the perfect ending for that character. Giving her the functional equivalent of a Doctor Blow-up Doll was just beyond fanwank and into complete Mary Sue territory.

I know you don't see it happen often, but, I was trying to be nice. Journey's End was an enormous fanwank, and I loved it. I know, I know. But c'mon, Sarah Jane and Donna in the same episode, I'm loving it. I'm pretty sure I saw a kitchen sink in there with all the Daleks, too. :D

That said, Rose's story as far as the mothershow is done. If there is enough fan demand, then by all means, give her her own spinoff show and leave it unconnected with the rest. Then Rose fans can have her, and those who can't stand her are peachy keen too.

I know this is RTD we're talking about, but I just can't see him undermining Journey's End like that. He does have SOME storytelling sense.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Master again though, and the idea of an older Tennant is pretty interesting.

Considering that he undermined "Doomsday" for "Journey's End" to no good purpose (seriously, what the fuck did Rose have to do with anything in "Journey's End"?), it's completely fair to question RTD's storytelling sense.

If Rose appears in an "Androzani"-like vision, I'm okay with that. If Rose returns from Pete's World, with or without Doctor-Blue, I'm absofuckinglutely not okay with that.

The Master's return has been rumored since the ending of The Last Time Lord and I wouldn't mind seeing John Simm's back since I thought he was great. Donna and Martha I wouldn't mind either, especially Donna but Rose's story was resolved in Journey's End.

Hey! I've been using that Blow-up Doll joke for ages. Fork over the royalties you owe me! Or... just explain to me what this whole Mary-Sue stuff is. I keep hearing the term and I've no clue what it means.

Assuming this has any validity whatsoever I'm in agreement with those who've said a "Caves"-type thing is the only possible way this could be anything more than
The final final final fanwank by Russel Davies.
If it involves actual reappearances by these characters...include me out (to put it as politely as I can).

Please no more Rose.
Oh yeah, and Rose should stay away from DW from now on; her story is resolved.
Amen. Her story's been over two or three times now and she still keeps returning. It's way past time to move the hell on from her. Frankly, she's not a good enough or interesting enough character for these ongoing reappearances to be interesting or worthwhile.

Amen to this, too.

Agreed. "Journey's End" completely undid "Doomsday", so there's really little or no basis to presume Davies won't repeat the dose.

Mary Sue.

If Rose cames back one more time she's going to get a rename - to Penny as in Bad.
