Will the new enterprise be larger than the TOS?

If the Federation was attacked enough to prompt such beefing up of all their ships I'd expect the Klingons to respond by increasing their military enhancement too, we'll probably see ships more like the designs in Enterprise only much larger and more powerful.

Not necessarily. If I were Starfleet I don't think I'd run the no-win scenario the same way each time. Students do talk to other students. Even if they're sworn to secrecy some of them have got to be loose lipped anyway. Anything that qualifies as a "no-win scenario" should be fair-game.

Depends. News of the attack on Earth and Nero's other changes to the timeline might take a while to reach the Klingons, and even if it did and the Empire wanted to take advantage of these crises it might think using its existing battle fleet would suffice. With things turning upside down in the Federation there might not be a perceived need for "better ships" against an adversary in turmoil and flux...one easily distracted.

Kind of late to the party... but since my ships keep showing up in here, I made that comparison image of the bridge domes scaled the same that someone requested...

It's amazing how close some of those details line up, I think. When I built the new ship, I didn't try to match anything to my old one.

To clarify, the old one was built to line up with the Casmiro blueprints. Be easy on it, too... It was my first model. :)

Finally! The nuEnterprise is indeed bigger than the TOS Enterprise (including her saucer), just as I assumed...
If you compare the windows, it could probably be even bigger.

And a good one, too! :techman::techman::techman:

...that it's not an attack on the Federation which gets things started, but the destruction of a large Klingon fleet the night before the Kelvin encounters the Narada. Since the Klingon subplot originally part of the screenplay was cut, it may be that the only Klingon ships we see are in small pieces.

I wonder if any Klingon ship in this movie will look like the classic ones we're used to. Nero DOES escape from Klingon captivity at some point. It'd be cool to see an all-new CGI D-7 battle cruiser or something along that line.
From what I read in a very early ''trekmovie'' interview with the producers, one of them said the the Klingon ships in this movie would be a cross between the ''KA'TINGA Class & the NEGH'VAR'' If any body has a link to that ''please'' put it up.Thanks in advance.:)

It's a fine-looking model.

It's also amazing how many of us build that ship as our first CG model.

I hope they give us a larger and more powerful version of this Enterprise design...

I think that one looks pretty good and I bet it'd be a fairly timeless design.

Yep, it is.

I agree that it is simple in design... It's basically a bunch of simple lines, and primitive shapes. It's easy to build detail off of something like that, than it is the newer version.

Also, it's easier to turn those shapes on a lathe, to actually build the thing. :)

Not to light too much of a fire here, but that strikes me as good evidence for the, ah, simplicity of the TOS version's design. :shifty:

Well, there are three things:

1) It's very popular;
2) There's scads of reference material;
3) It is really simple. As soon as you learn to lathe a profile and do simple Booleans in whatever CG software you cut your teeth on you can make a fairly good representation of the ship - and of course as soon as you can animate an object along a straight path you can simulate a lot of the original TOS shots.

How well it all turns out is a matter of patience and attention to detail.

Ah, MadMan beat me to it. ;)

At the very least we'll be seeing some Klingon ships during the Kobayashi Maru scenario, albeit simulated ones.
Not necessarily...

The only time we've ever seen the Kobayashi Maru scenario played out, it was done using the Enteprise and some Klingon ships, true... but the SCENARIO would remain the scenario even if the details were changed.

In other words... who's to say that some variations of the Kobayashi Maru scenario aren't played out using Daedalus-class ships and Axanarian Battlecruisers?

The point of the scenario is the "no-win" situation... and that's played out with a ship (maybe not portrayed as the same ship everytime, either?) called the Kobayashi Maru.

Yes, they could use other enemy ships... but for this movie I don't think they're going to, based on what we've heard.

Assuming MadMan's scaling is 100% accurate, perhaps marginally. Not nearly as much as some have been speculating.
Bigger question is if MadMan's scaling on nacelles is right. It is huge man:eek:.
It's a good question. :)

My Nacelles are a little longer than the real thing. I haven't felt like re-building them totally, and since the difference isn't that much, I left it.

Hey madman, can you make the ''NU-ENTERPRISE'' just a little bigger? I noticed the windows are much smaller on the ''NU-E'' then they are on TOS-E! Maybe if you can match both ships up by the size of there windows we'll be closer to the real size of this ship? Am I makeing since ''or'' just rambaling on?

I hope they give us a larger and more powerful version of this Enterprise design...
unexpected_302jpg.jpg

Isn't that basically the same K'tinga-CG-model that was used on VOY?
I was a bit disappointed that they decided to use the D-7 instead of John Eaves' fantastic retro-design:

Not to mention they even made a 3D model of it for the show, but the producers decided to ditch it last minute because they "wanted more windows".

Although, I prefer the slightly longer side view of the "head" from the drawing. I've been dying to see her in Star Trek: Bridge Commander.
