For me, it was Call to Arms. Great!

The first bit of Deep Space Nine I ever saw was For The Uniform. It definitely got me interested, but for some reason which I don't recall I didn't start watching religiously until A Call To Arms.

Gotta be the original Maquis two-parter. I watched it sporadically up to that point. Then I was hooked!

    Emissary. :)

While I didn't care for Sisko's wormhole experience at the time, the Wolf 359 footage and a lot of the stuff up to the discovery of the wormhole would have kept me around regardless.

Way of the Warrior got me sort of interested but it was Call to Arms that me hanging out at the video store waiting for the next tape in the season to make its way to the shelves.

One night I was bored and watched One Little Ship, and was hooked. I then proceeded to wake up every morning at 4 am to watch the episodes, because they aired at 4 and 5.

Same here. Emissary was derided by many Trekkers but I was far more hooked by the potential I saw in it to explore religious and political allegory, not so much by the quality of the script of the pilot itself as a stand-alone. And I was also immediately much more interested in the characters than I had been in the TNG crew. Even as bad as most of the first season proved to be b/t Emissary and Duet (with Captive Pursuit as virtually the only exception), it was still more solid than the first 2 seasons of TNG and, from the outset, immediately replaced TNG as my favorite TV show. DS9 remains my favorite Star Trek incarnation.

The third season kind of faultered, but when Way of the Warrior debuted the fourth season I was TWICE as hooked.

I think that just might be when I started to come around on the show and realize its potential for greatness. I found the first season really hard to get through, especially the first episode, which was painfully boring and melodramatic for much of its duration. After how dull many of the episodes were, I could barely motivate myself to check out more of the show. It helped that I was really intrigued by the character of Dax and anxious to see episodes that explored it more. To my surprise, it ended up being an O'Brien episode that was probably the first time I felt the show came up with a premise and a new alien race that was truly original in an episode that was suspenseful and emotionally involving from start to finish. If this episode hadn't come along when it did, I probably would have given up on the show early on. It relieved me from the frustration I felt towards many of the early episodes, and as ones after it drove me nuts, I remembered it and reminded myself how well it proved how much better the show could be.

Definitely "Emissary". Right from the start this series proved it was going to be different, yet equally worthy, to TNG.

I had caught a few episodes in the first two seasons, and I began to watch it more regularly in season 3, but Way of the Warrior had me completely hooked. I can't think of a single Trek episode which shook things up as much as this one did, the whole Trek universe was tipped upside-down and it was done with just the right amount of action and humour. That is when DS9 became my favourite Trek.

Duet, a powerful episode with great acting and in only the first season. That's when I knew that DS9 was for me!

The first episode I saw was "Distant Voices", and that's where I got hooked. I love weird stuff like that. I suppose that's why I'm really digging "Life On Mars" now...

Same here. I think I had watched a few episodes before that (not regularly though) but this one really hooked me.

Way of the Warrior. One of the greatest episodes in all of Trek.

Agreed, especially watching Dukat and Garak fighting the Klingons and that wonderful scene between Garak and Quark.

I didn't start watching until season 2. I remember watching the 'Circle' trilogy vividly but the episodes that hooked me the most were probably 'Rules of Aquisition' and 'Necessary Evil.' I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the episodes, and watched ever since. 'Necessary' is probably in my Top 10, it's a real gem.

I was hooked from the start in the sense that this was a Trek show, and I was determined to watch it. Plus I enjoyed what I saw even though I didn't like it as much as TNG at the time.

Major points on the way to really hooking me were problably the Circle trilogy (I'd never seen anything like that on Trek before), The Jem'Hadar (NEVER seen anything like that on Trek before) and finally, The Visitor. It's still my favorite DS9 episode and the one where the show just went through the roof for me.

DS9 started while I was in the Army, and I remember seeing the Odo character and thinking that this show was for kids. I refused to watch it and seriously only caught maybe 15 minutes of it once by accident (too lazy to change the channel). After I got out of the Army, I happened to be watching TV and saw them advertising the girl on girl kiss in "Rejoined". I tuned in. It was a very touching episode, and I thought, "Wow". A couple months later, I met a trekker that made me watch it, and I now recognize it as having several of the best episodes in the Trek universe.
