That's beautiful. The Boss did a nice version of this song, too.

NO! NO! NO! That's almost as bad as Madonna's cover! Don McLean, where for art thou?

I am a firm believer that some songs should not be covered, and this is one of them.

As Homer Simpson once said: Burn it! Send it to Hell!

Here's another version of "Shenandoah", this time by Celtic Woman (instrumental) :

BTW, I have seventeen versions of this great song, but I'm looking for one version that can't be found on the internet (or I'm not looking in the right places), and that's the Bing Crosby version. I'd be very grateful if anyone could help me out with this one.

Yeah, Sissel is an upcoming star (a Norwegian girl BTW), and I suspect you'll be hearing lots of her in the coming years.
Although Hayley Westenra's version is not bad either :

Here's another nugget, though I don't know if this is known by Americans; it was a major hit in Europe (it won the Eurovision Song Contest) :

    Here's the Springsteen version.

I agree-- just as some roles should never be recast.

What year did Secret garden win Eurovision? I've watched the show since 2000, and I don't remember it (it's the BAD songs that stay in mind :) )

Agreed. But every once in a while, like poohka said, one does come along that just knocks your socks off. For example, Annie Lennox's cover of "Take Me to the River" comes to mind. I think I love that version more than the original.

But I do have a prime example why people shouldn't touch the original song... Madonna's cover of "American Pie". She should have been burned at the stake for that one. :klingon:

Sissel has an amazing voice though. I need to look up some more of her stuff and check her out.

Madonna's version of American Pie was a total abortion. She didn't get the meaning of the song!
