Will the new enterprise be larger than the TOS?

^Ya I know the one your talking about, Kirk is in his black uniform and a black eye, and scotty has his head turned with a ''Confused'' look! I also noticed in the window what ''looks'' to be another Federation ship!? and that they may be in a spacedock of somesort?

This might, however, also be the main viewing screen, since it has something like 'warp factor such-and-such' in the upper half. A HUD?

Sorry:p this is the first time I have seen this picture ''this'' big! and ya, I see where it says 'warp factor' and now that I can see the screen ''much'' better now, I dont belive that is another ship after all! it looks like the very top of a PLANET! And the small lights that I thought belonged tp ''another'' ship, are nothing more then Reflective bridge lights! my mistake!

Possible...
Nevertheless, we've seen that the the nuEnterprise's bridge is huge (Enterprise-D size, I would guess) and that it seems to have windows at the sides which are visible fom the outside. All this has to fit into the dome, which is - compared to the TOS Enterprise's - still relatively small in relation to the size of the primary hull. Size this up to a realistic scale (please do because mathematics never were my forte) and you get one seriously big baby!!!

At a second glance, this is the viewscreen as well (you see the NCC-1701 lettering at the bottom?)... This means that the 'three windows on the bridge' theory could be way, way off. This means that the three windows are on a level below the actual bridge. This means that the dome on top of the primary hull is even bigger. This means... oh, I've become cross-eyed!

Let's just hope that the makers of the movie spent at least half as much time thinking about realism, the scale and similar things as we did this evening (bloody ripper, is it that late already?)...

Those can't be bridge windows since the bridge doesn't have three windows like that. (as seen in screencaps and the bridge toy set) This ship has three glowing sensors on the top and bottom of the saucer, just like the TMP Enterprise.

The new bridge looks much bigger than any other Trek bridge. If the saucer has similar proportions to the Kelvin (which it appears to) then the saucer is about 150% wider in diameter than the old ship.

In one of the older comparison shots, the orthos of the Kelvin and the orthos of the Enterprise ship by side with the saucer thickness matched up revealed that the Kelvin's Nacelle is longer than the entire TOS Ent. I think that shot of the shuttles coming out of the HUGE Kelvin hangar from the 2nd trailer proves the Kelvin is much bigger than the TOS ship. Does that mean the JJPrise is too? Maybe.

I'm thinking that's just a translucent sensor dome on top, but I might be wrong. From the few helpful angles we've gotten from inside the bridge it doesn't seem to have a bubble.

As to the "windows" - I don't think that's the case either. The refit Enterprise has similar recesses, and they were nothing but running lights. In any case, they're all far too narrow and wide to match the screen we see from inside the bridge.

Now the Kelvin might be another story...

^You woulden't happen to have one of those ''Comparison shots'' on hand would you?:)

from an interview I did with the PD, Scott Chambliss, a couple weeks back (his words):

"The only greenscreen burn-ins were the huge viewing windows of the Enterprise and the Jellyfish."

Now it could be he misspoke and meant viewscreens, but he seemed pretty clear in most of his speech. There was plenty of stuff he refused to discuss, but the stuff he talked about, he was pretty specific.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/CaptApril/Comparisonfinal.jpg I think this NU ship ''will' be Longer & bigger then the Original, just look at this ^ there is no way the NU-ENT is going to be the same size ( Length, anyway) the O-ENT. And if it is the same size as the O-ENT, then ''SOME''body must have been smokin some Mighty Powerful STUFF! Oh, and did anybody monkey around with the O-ENT's nacelles? it looks like they have been shortend!?

Wow! The bridge is ''MUCH'' smaller on the outside, then it is on the INSIDE!:D

You see, dosen't it look like they are in ''Spacedock'' with another ship?

miraclefan, before you post even one more image, I really think you should read this. It specifies TrekBBS policy concerning the posting of images.

In the posts I have quoted above, you have committed several no-nos. Two of the three images you posted exceed not only the recommended size limit but also exceed the de facto "excused larger image size" margin which has been generally in play in this forum. (Yes, I'm aware that Captain Robert April's "size comparison" graphic was posted once already at the beginning of this thread, but the size and the crappy edgework were, I suspect, both specifically intended to annoy, and I suspect also that the size comparison is intentionally inaccurate. Reposting it here was unnecessary; you could have as easily linked to the post containing the images, though why you'd want to use something so pointedly ugly escapes me.)

Additionally, all three images are hosted on webspace not belonging to you, which is considered poor form. TrekCore in particular provides a great service to us (and to all fans of Trek) by maintaining a library of screencaps and letting us use them; don't abuse their generosity by stealing their bandwidth to display images here. Anthony hates when people do that.

Please read the image-posting policy linked above, go forth and violate it no more. Sign up for an account at Photobucket or Imageshack, while you're at it -- they're both free -- or look into whether your ISP might provide free webspace to users.

You're brilliant.

I just went through my collection of nuTrek pictures and stumbles over two photos in particular... one of the earlier publicity shots with the U.S.S. Enterprise crew (sans Spock) on the bridge, gathering around McCoy, with what seems to be a window in the background, and another one with Spock standing in front of another wide (and I mean wide!) window... these seem to be the three windows on the bottom of the bridge dome.

[The picture is a Tobias Richter CGI, so it might not be entirely accurate.]

Yes! That is something I've been wondering about since the 1st trailer came out...(hate to bring up the whole windows/vs view screen debate...sorry). The shape and scale seems to match up IMO.
Big (lower) expansive bridge with 3 windows/viewscreens.

The expansive second floor bridge doesn't add up. For a start, the shape of those lit items are far wider in relation to height than the viewscreen.

Also, we see both sides of the Bridge in the trailer several times. Where are those side windows in those shots?

Sorry. Proven incorrect. :)

See, ancient, it seems I have been right. ;)
