Official site now has music? From the actual soundtrack?

If there aren't lyrics written by Roddenberry, it's not Trek, damnit! :p

Part of it sounds like the Trek scores from James Horner and Cliff Eidelman.

Interestingly enough Horner's Titanic soundtrack is very nearly ripped of by Battlestar Galactica these days.

Really. Nothing about McCreary's work sounds much like Horner.

I have all the BSG soundtracks, I did not mean the whole thing but last weeks episode at the end with Tigh and Adama on the couch sounded just like Titantic's music so maybe its just that track, the rest sounds lik 'Black Hawk Down' LOL

I think what you're hearing is merely the fact both have irish influence. The similarity stops there.

To McCreary's credit, I have yet to hear a brake drum in an action sequence...

Are we talking about the background music once you enter into the Flash interface?

If that is, indeed, what we're discussing, then I don't get what all the commotion is about. It sounds like bad video game music.

If we're discussing something else, please steer me in the right direction...

I got goosebumps listening to it.
Good music does that for me. :D

I quite like it - I find it suitably moody and atmospheric with some touches of Goldsmith - strangely evocative of his score for Aliens at the start, with a touch of TMP later on after the oboe is joined by the strings and then perhaps a little Planet of the Apes(Goldsmith again)/TOS feel to it once the drums start (bongos!) - but to each their own, eye of the beholder and all that.

Click on the Trailer then when the trailer play screen comes up click skip and it should take you right to it.

Excellent piece. A part does seem reminiscent of Horner's score. But the feel is far different. It's not adventurous or "high seas," but more serious and subdued. Almost melancholic, really. This may not be from the opening score, but if it is, I like the feel far more than the vibe Goldsmith's score gave off at the start of TMP. I like Goldsmith's work in TMP, but the opening piece as it was played always smacked of a "Star Wars Theme" wannabe, to me. And it certainly wasn't appropriate for the tone the movie took.
