Star Trek new trailer description (Spoilers of course?)

Just saw the trailer with Watchmen (meh, btw), man, the trailer was awesome. Was giddy like a fat kid in a candy store!! Scenes went by quite quick, but the shot of the planet imploding was great and the SFX shots of the battle scenes looked amazing. NEED HD VERSION NOW!!!!

Did you have the impression that the planet was Vulcan?

Enterprise looked good I hope?

To be honest, I was expecting a bit more of a structured trailer with a hint towards the story this time around, rather than just lots of random shots cut together very quickly but oh well.

Im hoping to see Watchmen this weekend (was planning on seeing it regardless of how many awesome trailers are playing before the movie :) )

Cant wait personally. Should be a good time

I am willing to say with near certainty that it won't...
The prequels, no matter how many there are should end with WNMHGB and be tied into that again. If they try to retell it after that they are making a big mistake and I'm not interested. Who would be? That would be invalidating TOS and obliterating canon.

there is absolutely no chance that this will tie into old TOS. it's a different universe. what we will have is TOS-era with a weakened Federation, a weakened Klingon Empire, a Romulan Empire in a much stronger position and scope for infinite new stories. which is fantastically exciting and offers up all sorts of possibilities, like bringing in characters who we know from 'our universe' but who like Kirk, could have had totally different lives thanks to Nero.

and none of that will invalidate any of the original stories whatsoever. tbqh, I can't see how any Trek fan wouldn't be interested

Sounds like they're mimicking Moore's "Battlestar Galactica," which is understandable. Copy from the best. :)
Ha ha.

No. :wtf:

New BSG is good. But not as orgasmariffic as so many make it out to be. It's vastly superior to most other TV sci-fi of the last twenty or thirty years to be sure, but I've never been ga-ga for the show...Olmos' badass Adama aside.

The exterior looked fantastic. It went by really quickly but as far as I could tell there were no shots of engineering, sickbay or the transporter room. I have realised that the bridge reminds me of the Command Centre from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie. That is not a good thing. Got a couple of new shots of McCoy and Uhura, including a nice little scene on the bridge in which she asks Kirk if "he knows what he's doing". Chekov and Scotty are once again ignored in the trailer. There may have been one little scene involving the both of them, but it was clearly Kirk orientated. Jennifer Morrison looks great, as does Quinto. The scene in which the camera pans across the interior of starfleet academy was great.

Have you seen the film? Otherwise none of that has shown to be true. At all.

The new trailer starts off with a new shot of the young Chris Pine Kirk on motorcycle headed for the Enterprise being constructed. We then see more of the scene in the Iowa bar, with Pike (Bruce Greenwood) saying to Kirk "I couldn’t believe it when the bar tender told me who you are" and Kirk replying back with the "why are you talking to me man" line (seen in the Super Bowl commercial). Cut to image of studio logos.

I haven't had a boner like this in years. Welcome back buddy, welcome back.

I get boners like that all the time.

Mind you, ALL the sororities all have restraining order on me by this stage.

Well, that's my take on it, happy to be proved wrong in May.

I hope ALL the naysayers are proven wrong in two months' time. I hope my own fears are overblown and shot down like moths crashing into a bug zapper.
