Recurring guest stars and extras...

... that appeared in multiple episodes with different roles.

Recently I've been fascinated by this, as I gradually began to recognize some obscure extras that appeared in multiple episodes with different roles. After digging around a bit, I've come to learn that there are quite a lot of them (about 70!).

Memory Alpha does a great job of listing all actors that appeared on the Star Trek original series, as well as the non-primary characters that were recurring. However, I didn't see anything about recurring guest stars and extras. Sure, you could locate one actor and then see everything they did, but there does not seem to be a comprehensive list of the actors in one place.

As a result, I've decided to take a stab at it. I've pretty much completed the content of the list in text form and I've started authoring a little website to capture it all. Here's what I've done so far: Star Trek Recurring Guest Stars & Extras. Before I go any further, I figured it would be a good idea to run it by the folks on this BBS, seeing how knowledgeable many of you are. Maybe I'm repeating something that already exists elsewhere, in which case I'd abandon the project. Please post feedback as well, but keep in mind that this is in draft form. I haven't quite finalized the look-and-feel. Thanks!

Great job so far! You've taught this lifelong TOS fan a new piece of trivia: I didn't know Angela Martine was in "Turnabout Intruder!" It shows you how often I've watched THAT one! ;)

Keep up the good work! :)

This looks sure to be an excellent reference. Good luck! I imagine some extras like Mr. Leslie will be especially tough.

I remember seeing a site which was entirely about the many appearances of Mr. Leslie, but it seems to have been a casualty of AOL's shutdown of personal Hometown pages.

Yeah, Mr. Leslie would be tough to fully document. For now, I'm just going to indicate the number of episodes (57) and provide a few token images, along with a link to Memory Alpha for his details. :)

Of course, you can't forget his classic scene from "This Side of Paradise":

KIRK: Get back to your stations. Get back to your stations.
CREWMAN: I'm sorry, sir. We're all transporting down to join the colony.
KIRK: I said get back to your station.
CREWMAN: No, sir.
KIRK: This is mutiny, mister.
CREWMAN: Yes, sir. It is. (grin)

I've put up a few more entries...

One problem I'm having is that when linking to a photo on TrekCore, clicking on the link results in an initial "Forbidden" message. If you then press "Enter" on the URL, the image loads. Of course, once cached it's no problem. I checked TrekCore and can't find anything about linking to their images. Any ideas? I'm thinking ultimately I'll have to host all of the images on the website I'm using... but that'll be a pain. :wtf:

I think you'll have to host them yourself. Such is the price of having your own website. Otherwise it is bandwidth theft, which isn't cool.

I already took care of that... they're all on the same website, so that earlier problem is no more.

Great job so far! Whenever I think of recurring people, Diana Muldaur, Skip Homeier and Eddie Paskey always come to mind. Eddie was everywhere!

Wow, very interesting. I was familiar with many of the roles, but had not put all of the faces with the actors or actresses. Remarkable work.....
