The Naked Now, Code of Honor, The Last Outpost, Lonely Among Us, Justice, Angel One, When the Bough Breaks, Symbiosis

Uggh.
Oh, steady on now. "Lonely Among Us" was hilarious. :guffaw:

On the other hand, you raise several good points there. (But the nostalgist in me just can't be cruel to little TNG season 1... :()

Unfortunately the poll would not let me pick more then one so I settled for Voy Season 6 but if I could I would have included Season 5 and 7 for Voyager. Chak should have spaced all the Borg.

TNG season five. 'I, Borg' enough said.

"I, Borg" is from season 6, and yes that was a pretty weak season, but there are some excellent episodes in it like "Ship in a Bottle", "A Fistful of Datas", and "Chain of Command". I thought "I, Borg" was one of the better episodes of that season, actually. I think every Star Trek series got off to a shaky start, except (surprisingly), the first one. "Star Trek" had some of its most fun episodes right off the bat, like "The Naked Time" and "The Enemy Within". They were cheesy, but so very entertaining, unlike TNG and DS9 season 1 episodes which tended to be really boring and corny in a way that makes you want to cringe. I think DS9 is a little better, but they're both hard to get through. Still, worth it once you get to the later seasons, because things established in those episodes pay off in much better ones later. I've barely seen any Enterprise of Voyager, so I can't judge their seasons.

'I, Borg' is from season five.

Thanks for the clarification. I should know better since I've been reading a lot of books about the production of TNG lately, but maybe that's just making me confused. This definitely makes season 6 look a lot weaker to me.

Got to be honest... the only way I knew is because I don't own season six yet. But I knew I owned the season with 'I, Borg'. ;)

I'm surprised that some of the earlier versions of Trek hasn't drawn more venom.

I seriously thought Trek S3 was awful, because the few good shows was sandwiched between really crummy stuff like "Plato's Stepchildren" with its embarrassing bit after bit to humiliate Shatner and Nimoy. One of the worst of all time.

Still, when we got to TNG S7, the season was just plain awful. Again, there were a few pearls, but to do that, we had to put up with a man wearing knight armor on an imaginary train. Then Data had to wear some "Masks" that made no sense to me. Actually, it seemed to me that this was the TNG crew's attempt to make the season so terrible that there wouldn't be any demand for an eighth season of the show.

I've almost always enjoyed the earlier seasons of each Star Trek series with the exception of Enterprise. Characters and settings just seem fresher.

I like Star Trek season three. There were a lot of great episodes in there!

I personally give TNG season 7 a pass. TNG was winding down, Deep Space Nine was on the air, Voyager was being prepped for its' premiere and Generations was also in pre-production. People were just stretched too thin. It's a miracle that TNG season 7 wasn't an even bigger disaster.

I don't think I can bring myself to pass judgment on a whole season of TOS like that. I know a lot of people hate season 3, but with only 3 seasons made all the TOS we have is precious to me. There are some stinker episodes, but even in those there is too much nostalgia and fun to discount anything completely. I'll have my red, blue, and yellow tricorder cases till the day I die and I'll watch every episode at least three times again. Even The Alternative Factor.

Seeing recent TNG repeats on Virgin 1, I actually thought the show was going through a pretty drastic upswing in Season Three even though it had some of the S1/2 cheese left over (that never quite went away, despite the general drastic improvements in most respects).

TNG's season one. UGH! So terrible, it's torture to sit through.

ENT's much-maligned season 2 however, with Minefield, Dead Stop, Cease Fire, Future Tense, The Catwalk, Judgment, Cogenitor, Regeneration, First Fligh and The Expanse is much better than TOS season 3, TNG's season 1 and VOY season 7.
Seconded. Season 2 of Ent gets a lot of thumbs down, yet it had some very good to excellent episodes and its a shame that people forget that

I agree that the Internet distorts negative opinion since despite the overwhelming success of NuWho Russell T. Davies still gets subjected to the same bile as JNT and B&B, despite Doctor Who probably being more popular than ever.

This relates to something I've been thinking lately, as I ponder why most of those TNG movies were terrible...I've concluded that by season 6, they'd pretty much run out of ideas. After how many excellent episodes there were in seasons 3, 4, and 5, it had to be hard for them to come up with stories that still felt original and necessary. We were lucky we got as many good episodes as we did in that period, but yes, they were few and far between. I'm just amazed that we got such an awesome series finale after all the junk that preceded it. It's like they saved all their creativity that season for the end.

>>I like Star Trek season three. There were a lot of great episodes in there!<<

No argument on that. My second favorite Classic Trek episode was Season 3's "The Empath." I thought Gem was wonderful and the Big Three had a classic interaction that I still love.

My gut feeling on seeing the poll was that it had to be Original Series Season 3... but then, I thought that it still had a few great episodes.
That sort of ruled out voting for most of Voyager - however disappointing it got (and by the end, I was only watching out of habit and completetive-ism), it still came up with maybe five interesting episodes a season.
TNG and DS9... at their very worst, they were just dull and sometimes too worthy. I can't understand the votes for early TNG as the worst season - it's a far better continuation of Star Trek seasons 1&2 than the actual season 3 was.
So that leaves...
Well, Enterprise season one, I made it through maybe 16 episodes before Rogue Planet convinced me that there were better ways to have my intelligence insulted.
Season two: I gave it a second chance, and hit that point about eight weeks in, on A Night in Sickbay.
Season three, I saw only if I had nothing better to do (maybe five episodes), and am currently watching it properly for the first time. Season four got me interested in new Trek again.

So, it's really got to be Enterprise 2: the one so consistently weak I gave up on new Trek.

Thirded. I seem to enjoy the second season of Enterprise much more than most people on the internet.

I'm torn between the first couple seasons of TNG and VOY, at least with TNG you might have some nostalgia from the 80's going for it and the first Borg encounter but it's hard to sit through outside of that. With VOY you have the worst episode of Star Trek "Threshold" and with "Alliances" you realise Star Trek won't be taking chances ever again or at least not for a very long time.

My first thought on this was ENT Season Two, but considering it, that season isn't bad so much as just deeply uninspired and boring. By comparison, TNG Season One is full of actively terrible episodes, and so in the end had to go for that one.
