Jackson Signs Nine-Picture Deal to Play Nick Fury

I love 616 Nick, but buying an 80 year old who could still kick ass like that would be difficult. Unless it was Clint Eastwood playing. Then there would be no problem.

One way around it would be to show that Sam Jackson is 616's grandson or some bullshit like that.

616 Nick Fury downed a prototype immortality serum at some point. It didn't stop his aging, but slowed it down to such a degree that Marvel won't ever have to worry about updating him.

I don't think it will be nine movies where he has any big part in them. Could be some would be just a cameo or short clips like with Iron Man.

Ultimate Fury rules!

yay!

IM2, Thor, Cap America, Avengers, IM3, Cap America 2, Avengers 2, Thor 2, SHIELD. there's yer nine movies.

I'm a fan of both versions of Nick Fury.

The fact that they used Ultimate Nick Fury over 616 Nick Fury in the Coda to Iron Man, didn't bother me in the least, it was actually pretty freaking cool in the excitement of the moment and all.

The Terrance Howard recasting of Rhody bothers me only in that there's a visual disconnect between Iron Man & Iron Man 2

Sometimes I wonder if there is any one man in Hollywood who has had the opportunity to have more sheer fun playing his roles and acting in movies than SLJ, and then I think to myself "Probably not". :)

He strikes me as the kind of guy who just likes to work ,to act, and it can be Shakespeare or crap and he'll do it and he'll revel in it. I like that.

Well, SLJ doesn't bug me as Nick Fury, even though I did kinda wish they picked a more 616 Fury instead of Ultimate Fury, buuuut we shouldn't expect anything less from the current JoeQ'er that's running Marvel these days. But I do wish they would have tried harder to keep Howard as Rhodey - even though I wasn't crazy about him to be honest. I guess I'm used to the 90s cartoon Rhodey, bigger Marine like dude, deep voice. Howard's voice almost sort of strikes me as too... wussy. Reminds me of Richard Pryor. Great for comedy and drama, but action... I.... don't know.

But hopefully Cheadle will surprise us all and we'll be like "Terrance who?" I mean he has done some good actiony roles of late, maybe he'll bring that much extra acting quality to the role and IM2 will be unlike other sequals and be even more kickass. Plus I hope SLJ gets an expanded role. But please, please please have him chew a cigar and act badass.

I agree completely!

Jackson sometimes gets shit for doing too many movies. For not being selective enough in his choices. But people forget that he did not become a star until he was in his 40s. He seems to truly appreciate all the work he is offered now considering he had to wait for his stardom.

Does he do crappy movies? YES! sometimes... But considering how many he does I can just ignore the stuff I don't like.

^ HERETIC!!

BURN THE INFIDEL!

srsly, tho, you don't like, say, Zeus in Die Hard 3? or Mace Windu, the baddest Jedi in the Republic?

and, i doubt Fury will smoke cigars. Marvel put out an edict in 2001 that all characters aren't allowed to smoke. JJ seems to have quit in the Spidey movies. Wolverine in the X-movies seems the only one atm...

My feelings exactly.

That was just in the comics arm, because of the EIC's preferences; doesn't affect the films.
