Jackson Signs Nine-Picture Deal to Play Nick Fury

Samuel L. Jackson has buried the hatchet with Marvel Entertainment, making a deal to play the role of Nick Fury in Iron Man 2, and potentially many other films.

Jackson's deal is a long-term commitment to play Fury, the leader of the espionage unit S.H.I.E.L.D. His deal contains an option to play the character in nine future Marvel superhero films, efforts that are expected to include The First Avenger: Captain America, Thor, The Avengers, toplining a possible S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, and potential sequels.

Jackson introduced Fury in the closing moments of Iron Man, when the character asked Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark to join his group.

C'mon. As Nick Fury, he is just replying the secret agent boss from XXX. Samuel Jackson is the same character, just his hair changes. I really hope this is false or they buy him out of his contract.
 
They'll never use him in nine films, but it's nice to know we won't have to face recasting here.

Why would it be false? He's already played Fury in Iron Man. And the Ultimate universe version of Nick Fury in the comics is directly based on Jackson, with his permission. So no, this isn't borrowing from XXX, whatever that is. It's borrowing from itself.

xXx was an action/spy movie in 2002 starring Vin Diesel & Samuel L. Jackson. It's sort of like an extreme sports James Bond movie with generic Eurotrash villains. It's not Shakespeare by any means but I thought it was pretty fun. (Jackson reprised his role as the head of the xXx agency in the sequel xXx: State of the Union, which starred Ice Cube as the new agent when Vin Diesel opted to do The Chronicles of Riddick instead.)

I find the rumor dubious since 9 films is a pretty unprecedented commitment for anyone. Still, I think it's cool if true.
 
Well, from the sound of it we're mostly talking cameo/supporting appearances, not starring roles, so most of those nine wouldn't take long.
 
I love 616 Nick, but buying an 80 year old who could still kick ass like that would be difficult. Unless it was Clint Eastwood playing. Then there would be no problem.

One way around it would be to show that Sam Jackson is 616's grandson or some bullshit like that.
 
Ultimate Nick Fury had his arm blown off and then stormed the White House.

That is the definition of bad-ass.
