Is it sad that I knew that wasn't true yet still felt compelled to check out your profile anyway?

It's like those topics that say "Pictures of Tits Inside!" where I know it's going to be a pair of birds, but I just have to see for myself.

I suspect that both "interesting - fun" and "interesting - wtf" members would get a lot of page views. While those in between the extremes would get fewer.

Even as unpopular as I (probably) am, why would that make people want to look at my profile ?

Because they're curious about you? I look at people's profiles because I'm curious about a lot of the posters here. As for you specifically, I've clicked on your profile in an effort to contact you, so that explains one of the views.

I'm typically the same. Click on a profile out of curiousity on rare occasion, though 90% of it is mis-clicking in my UCP when half asleep.

I always try to give my profile something worthwhile to look at though, on the off chance one of the 186 visitors were looking for something about me. Though I have my blog in my sig - and I still don't think I'm interesting enough for either to be of interest.
