"Superman Returns' still to get a sequel?

The Wachowskis can't write a script worth shit, imo. The first Matrix flick was a one-trick pony.

Everyone knows they stole the Matrix script from someone else. I remember it being some woman who wrote it and they stole it...Thats why the 2nd and 3rd were shit and had little to nothing to do with the first...Cause "they" had to write them...

I love how tools on this board pop up stuff like this and fail to provide links or evidence.
Here's a link. Probably not one that supports DontFeedPhil's premise, but a link nevertheless.

There was a huge thread here about this at the time.

I love how everyone cites how important it is that a black woman owns a typewriter.

What Legendary Pictures wants is one thing. Current reality is another.

Whatever the next Superman film will be it will most likely at this point not be a sequel to Returns. The farther removed from Returns we get without a sequel the more and more likely it is that the current status quo, which is a non Returns follow-up, of a new direction is what is in store for Superman.

^At the very least, I hope they give Brandon Routh another shot at the role.

Really, the only problematic thing about doing a direct sequel to Superman Returns is working Jason Lane into the story. Beyond that, they could bring back the whole cast of Returns without ever actually mentioning Returns again.

Some people can't think out of the box, and believe that a reboot requires that Routh be replaced as Superman. Doing so would certainly be a huge mistake.

Although a little slow and light on the action, I quite liked Superman Returns, and as I've said before: Routh was excellent. I want to see him come back, and I don't understand why a reboot is at all necessary. Actually, I think a reboot would confuse more people than it would appease.

From Superman Homepage:

Slashfilm.com claims to have received a link to a password protected page from the official Legendary Pictures website where a movie titled "Superman Unleashed" is listed amongst their films in development. The page reads:
  • Ramping up the action of its esteemed predecessor, the sequel to 'Superman Returns' promises to raise the stakes and take the audience to heights of action that no other superhero movie can achieve.
Slasfilm.com seems to think this means that a sequel to "Superman Returns" and not a reboot is being planned. They also indicate that another of their sources claims that the title is just a working title and they are still hearing pitches from different writers.

Hope this pans out!

Really? I see new Superman comics and other products all the time and watch that show Smallville every week.

I loved Returns and I'd see a sequel in a minute if one comes out. But if they hafta reboot they should just get Donner back and shoot his Last Son comic for the next flick.

I meant Superman MOVIE'S!

SR wasn't bad, it shouldn't have a sequel though...I think Smallville is fresh in peoples minds and a Superman movie should fallow Smallville with those actors or we have to wait atleast 5-10 years for a re-boot Superman movie. I wanna Superman movie, just not what is floating around here in cyberspace...I still keep hearing Bryan Singer directing "Man Of Steel" Who knows???

More from Superman Homepage:

The Superman Homepage has discovered that Production Weekly, a publication that provides the entertainment industry with a comprehensive breakdown of projects in pre-production, preparation, and active development for film and television, has "Superman Unleashed" listed in issue #649 (dated February 26, 2009).

Upon request, the page in question was sent to the Superman Homepage direct from the Production Weekly offices as a PDF file and lists the status of "Superman Unleashed" as being in "Development".

Thomas Tull and William Fay are listed as Producers, with Bryan Singer as Director.

Hopefully we'll hear more on this soon.

:vulcan: - Believe it or not, Binford isn't a sponsor of TrekBBS, and nor does the boss here sponsor a show called "Tools Time".

IOW, next time try making your point withOUT calling anybody a "tool"

You're either being a tool on purpose or just honestly don't understand this thread is about cinematic Superman. Other media is not in question.

I was being slightly sarcastic, yes, but the analogy was poor. Star Trek movies were dead. Star Trek TV shows were dead. Star Trek comics were more-or-less dead. You had the novels, but, lets face it, the novels were not going to keep the franchise afloat, at least not in the way TPTB would want. Star Trek, as a whole, was by and large dead.

Superman, while struggling in the movie front, is still going strong as a franchise.

And thanks for name calling, especially right after mod suggested that people not call people tools.
