Blink Of An Eye

I recently watched Blink Of An Eye, which proved to be one of my favourite VGR episodes. I expect this has been discussed before but did anyone else notice the resemblence to Robert Forward's Dragon's Egg novel?

In Dragon's Egg, a human space ship studies an inhabited neutron star. The inhabitants live much faster than humans and experience the equivalent of a human year in 30 seconds. During the time the humans are in contact with them, the neutron star's inhabitants go from a primitive society to being more advanced than the humans.

The writers were having a joke with us. Exaggerating how an episode of Voyager usually feels like it lasts 4 hours. Just a slight touch of selfdepreciating humour.

Blink Of An Eye is a good episode. :techman: I have not read Dragon's Egg novel, so I cannot comment on that one.

One of my favorites, too; I really enjoyed the guest stars -- all of them. Daniel Dae Kim was great, and I liked seeing how the other ages of their time worked out, too. I especially liked the astronomers in their analogous 1920 or so telescope dome. Sorry, but I haven't read the story you referenced...

I enjoyed the metaphor within the ep. about how Star Trek has had a major influence on not only our own space program but on modern technology as well. The metaphor also shows how thru the inhabitance of the planet, the diversity of Treks fandom. Some worship Trek, others use it as a study tool and another percent see it as entertainment.

O. Good call Exodus. Didn't notice that before. :)

It's like Kathy never read Jimbo's logs. The drug that speeds them up is on file in the medical data base, who is a person who should know well enough how to make his crew match pace with these speedy buggers.

...Which is what she was trying to avoid to the last. What person of the female persuasion would want to age faster?

The antidote that Spock devised would have been of some use, tho. Spray that on the populance, and perhaps they would settle down enough to listen to what Janeway was saying?

I think the TOS remedy would only work if someone ingested Scalosian water in order to contract the condition.

Isn't this the episode where Tom and Tuvok are trapped on a planet and forced to eat spiders. *shudders*

Always hated that one. Well, if it IS that one. :)

No Gorf! That's Gravity (which is a GOOD episode).

You are flying high in a wrong season, too. Lol.

A planet where time passes much more quicker than in other parts of the space. Voyager becomes as a "Star Ship" that is a corner stone of the planet's culture. Doctor is stucked there for couple of minutes and ends up being there years in the planet's time.

Hmm...I really thought the spider epi was the one. I have no recollection of the doctor...guess I didn't like it or I'd hope that I remembered it. I'll have to do my homework. :)

^Never seen that one. But I liked Noss. So leave her alone or she'll throw some spiders on ya! :p

And Tuvie might get mad, too. ;)
