Officer Sloan : HRG

murmillones

Ensign
Newbie
I just finished watching the episode 'Inquisition' and i found it uncanny how much Officer Sloan of the intelligence agency Section 31 reminded me of HRG off Heroes, apart from looking similar they both had the same sort of mysteriousness about them...

am i mad or can anyone else see the similarity? :vulcan:

By HRG do you mean Claire's dad Noah Bennet? If so, I'm not seeing it in their characters of their appearance.

Noah always seemed like a relatively lowly peon working for a semi-evil organisation but with Sloan you almost have a sense that he knows the "whole" picture or at least a whole lot more then Bennet would. Bennet was also nothing more then a hitman and cleaner. Sloan seemed much more, a string puller as it were.

Sloane fits Bennet's model a heck of a lot better than, say, Angela Petrelli's. If we're going to make Heroes analogies, though, I'd say Sloane is Thompson (Eric Roberts' character from Season 1). Not in charge of his organization, but coordinating and often participating in the actual field operations. I also see much more of a personality match between these two characters.

Arthur also might not be a too bad comparious. Of course the main difference would be that Arthur seemed to be in charge of Pineherst and we ever got any idea that Sloan was in charge of Section 31. They both had a faked deaths, they both recruit from "good" people to join their band of "evil" to do "evil" things and shape the world/quadrant in their vision (though in Sloan's case it would probably be in Section 31's vision and not just his personal one). They don't mind getting down and dirty, placing people in false realities, stealing, lying, probably even killing (we never see Sloan kill but he did try to off Bashir and O'Brien).
